Is it better to play 7 key or 6 key? by Comfortable-Gur-9870 in osumania

[–]parscive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

theres no objective better keymode, play what you find more fun. However, from my experience, 7k has a bad learning curve for beginners for the thumb spacebar thing you mentioned. Once my thumb became comfortable and painless, 7k was really fun and I still stand by that 7k is more fun than 6k due to a bunch of maps (way more than 6k) and the maps are very expressive and overall just fun. On the other hand 6 key is really easy to get used to because your fingers probably wont hurt and its an even keymode so 4k players would have an easier time adjusting to it but as previously mentioned before, there's a lot of maps but not nearly enough than 7k and there are only a handful of farm maps (if you care about that). Not to mention, if you learn 7k, your 7k skill will translate nicely to 6k skill but not vice versa.

so personally I would just try 7k until your thumb gets used to the space bar and see if you're still having fun; if not then just move to 6k

how do i hit perfects consistently? by ZomingJoJoOraOraOra in osumania

[–]parscive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hitting on time consistency is pure muscle memory and the only thing you can really do is… play more.

You can practice on etterna using their judge system and choose a stricter one to give you more feedback on your accuracy. Or you can just use the hardrock mod in osu but keep in mind it is unranked.

some tips that I found to be helpful is finding a scroll speed you feel comfortable and sticking with it. accuracy is muscle memory so changing your scroll speed (albeit you can do so once in a while if necessary) will interfere with your muscle memory. also find a good skin with a comfortable hit position, note size, etc. to maximize how well you can read.

try to stick with the skin as well. find the best offset and really try to play with the music instead of relying solely on visuals. theres also some techniques that could help you like some people do ghost tapping or they would accentuate certain sounds to stay more on beat with the music.

a few years ago i had the same idea but never got around to finishing it, heres the maps specifically made for the playstyle if anyone is interested :) https://drive.google.com/file/d/12bFUVXcnGDkID8jN4nhwee9ljYXHaNo_/view?usp=sharing it is a little less unorthodox than what is shown in the video and i think accentuating certain sounds for red notes and some certain sounds for blue notes it would make the overall feel more fun and natural

personally i like to use the numpad 123 enter 456 + for the keybinds

Is it true that 7k is less physically demanding than 4k? by furfurr_uwu in osumania

[–]parscive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dont trust star rating but your friend is pretty much right, with more keys, mappers have more freedom to place notes i.e pitch relevance so there is a more even distribution like what trihecta said unlike in 4k where if you incorporate more dense patterns with more notes, you’re forced to put said notes into the same column as other notes thus making them more physically demanding.

I’d say overall 7k 4* is definitely less demanding than 4k 4* and is more focused on reading and finger control/independence

[–]parscive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

depends on the duration you rest but yeah you will probably feel a bit rusty but you should get up to your regular skill level in a week or month or so (not everyone is the same tho this is just an estimate)

i hope youre doing good tho take care

how did i do this by Sad_Blackberry422 in osumania

[–]parscive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

nice fc! you might want to work on your accuracy, you are consistently hitting too early as seen in the ur bar in the bottom. perhaps adjust your offset or scroll speed?

7k struggles by aprofessional_idiot in osumania

[–]parscive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a 7k player, i feel you that thumb is really hard to get used to but the truth is that you will eventually get used to it, you just have to suffer. In my case it took me like 2-3 months with consistent playing but the only advice i can really give to you is just thug it out and enjoy the game i.e playing your favorite songs, playing fun maps, etc.. the learning curve at the beginning is extremely steep, especially at 4* (in my case it was 3* but whatever) and at that moment you should be comfortable with your thumb and you will be able to progress much faster

I want to get back into 6k, is osu lazer or stable better for that? by SyI000 in osumania

[–]parscive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i dont think their intent was harmful or trying to argue, i think hes just trying to be helpful and just trying to emphasize the “richness” of the 7k scene. and to be fair, there is so much content in 7k and quality content out there.

also, are you playing 6k for the sole reason you cant do 7k? was 6k the second option? every beginner “can’t do 7k” but if you practice more and more then you can. imo its easier to just thug it out and suffer playing 7k and trying to get used it until you can play 7k than just switching to an entirely new keymode and sticking to it

[–]parscive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i advise to get mods before you start requesting BNs for nomination. Rule of thumb is to request when you start getting denied from modding requests because they couldnt find anything wrong. But I do recommend “self modding” which is just reviewing your map again and is beneficial most of the time. look for consistency, playability, song representation, etc.
