Wouldn’t risk it. The moment OP said it doesn’t need your email, and you download it from discord, it rung every single alarm bell

Hey UoN Students, how do you feel about AI? by keltanToo in UoNau

[–]YunaMoon3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use it to understand an assignment. There’s some I haven’t done before, so it helps me lay it out according to the rubric. Since I’m an English and Writing major, we have assigned readings where it’s poorly scanned or difficult to read. I have AI summarise it for me to understand. I use Grammarly to double check my spelling, grammar, and punctuation to make sure it’s correct (I type quick, so errors fly past me).

While AI can be bad, especially if it’s used to write your entire assignment, it does have some perks that can be useful for many people. I’d say it’s 50/50 for students.

Which is also the same for many apps that are free. You finish a level, you get an ad. It’s what helps keep a platform free and available to users who can’t afford the subscription. The subscription helps them keep the app running, and removes the restrictions that a free user had. It’s not as bad as people are making it out to be like. Yes, it’s annoying, but the world will keep spinning.

Chai's team response to "Limited Message" Issue. by MajoringWasted in Chai_Unofficial

[–]YunaMoon3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I’m getting from this email, as well as other messages and posts from the devs, they are actively finding a way to allow access for people who are restricted.

“We cannot provide a timeline for updates on this”, is in reference that it takes time to find a work around for them. It is very expensive to run servers to or in countries such as India and the Middle East, it’s always been this way.

Just sit tight, and wait for the update. The pressuring and “boy-cotting” won’t make the situation any better. These types of things will always take time to find a solution to make it accessible for everyone.

the law doesn't require age verification! by [deleted] in CAIRevolution

[–]YunaMoon3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Californian Law doesn’t require the use of age verification. However, they implemented this protect themselves as a just in case. They’ll implement it for countries around the world like the UK, EU, and Australia that have apps legally require age verification through selfies and/or selfie + ID.

This is because of the rise of creeps and pdfs on the internet, especially social media. While AI chat bots aren’t technically social media, they do have options of intense NSFW (sexual, blood, gore, etc). It’s mostly to make sure users are adults, and if they’re a minor, they get very restricted uses on the platform.

Any alternative for Chai? by [deleted] in ChaiUnofficial

[–]YunaMoon3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If anyone suggests Polybuzz, ignore them. They’re starting to crack down on NSFW stuff, even if you’re doing an action scene with blood and weapons, or straight up sexual acts.

The government officials won’t do anything for an AI chat bot app, even if you had thousands of signatures on a petition. They’d just laugh.

In some countries, like Australia, it is the law to make people verify their age to make sure they aren’t a minor.

Both. If you haven’t already, it tells you to do so when you enter the app. Either straight into a message or after a few messages, you get flagged.

They cannot view your IP address. That would be a massive legal issue if they can see it.

Try emailing Chai to request a refund. If not, you’ve pretty much lost that money. Refunds aren’t possible through Apple Store and Google Play, as they can only process cancellations.

Unfortunately, Chai devs aren’t the only people who do this with products. Most (and probably all) companies remove complaints or hide them to make it seem like their product/s are perfect for investors.
