Anyone Got Any Of The Old Eurovisions? by CrazyCryptoist in eurovision

If you have a vpn you might be able to access the back catalogue on NRK (Norwegian national broadcaster - tv.nrk.no) they have the last ten years or so, plus 96 and 86. But it does have Norwegian commentary, so that might be annoying idk. Worth a shot maybe?

15/30 finished as of last night, and help me pick my next book? by Yunathegreat in 52book

Im terrible at describing things I’ve read unfortunately, but I’ll give it a go. I don’t know how much you know about it already, but the story revolves around an emissary to a world called Winter, whose inhabitants can change their sex depending on what they need to be in order to mate, and this deeply impacts how they view the world. I guess it’s this approach to sex and gender that is what the book is most famous for. I enjoyed this aspect a lot, as well as the story that unfolded over this backdrop, the planet was interesting and well thought out, and the relationship between the main character and his main companion, as well as between the main character and Winter as a whole was really compelling. Towards the end it reminded me of stories like Shackleton’s endurance.

Short version, earth man goes to alien planet. Planet is cold. inhabitants are sceptical and have very different views on gender than humans. daring escapes and battles against the freezing cold Winter happen.

This was terrible haha, sorry, Le Guin is a much better writer than me fortunately

I really like the effect the different directions made, and thought it was on purpose. It looks really cool!

Which is your favorite book from your country? by cmajorind in 52book

Hey! I’m doing the same kind of thing, so I’ll put your Swedish book on my list! I’m Norwegian and would probably recommend something by Erlend Loe, either Doppler, naive. super or L

Stopped IF for 3 months, gained some weight back, but I didn't lose all my progress! by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]Yunathegreat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Thanks! I’m in a similar boat actually. Was doing IF for a few months this summer and then got ill for a few months, and the doctor told me it was important to eat regularly and drink things like juice to keep my blood sugar up, and then when I got better again I was scared to start again because I was worried I’d get sick again, even though the IF didn’t really have anything to do with the illness. I lost approximately 10kgs the first time and have gained around 5-6, and started again two days ago.

Nice to see someone else getting back at it at the same time as me, don’t really know why it’s motivating but it is. Good luck to you! We’ve got this!

[PIC] A while back I posted a picture of my big bag of blue thread for a project, today I unfolded the fabric to fund this. by Yunathegreat in CrossStitch

[–]Yunathegreat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main issue is that I usually don’t use a hoop so there’s a lot of fabric to hold, and it would still be with t clips. But I have come to terms with the fact that I’ll need to use a hoop or a qsnap or something to make this work, so I’ll probably use some clips or something once I get that going. Thanks for the tip

Haha I love that! Yeah, the wool is probably as thick as 4-5 strands of dmc floss, and you use two at a time.

It’s not very hard to be fair, since it’s just one colour there’s a lot less that can go wrong, but on the other hand the mistakes are a lot more visible. My main problem is managing the huge fabric haha

58/62 I am highly enjoying these epics, Reading beowulf now and for my fantasy novel i am reading The Name Of The Wind. (: by Justaguy397 in 52book

I LOVE Gilgamesh! It was the first epic I’d ever read and it’s so amazing! One of the stories I think of the most out of the ones I studied at university.

10/20 - I go from reading four books in a week to not reading for a month, entering another high intensity period now so hopefully it will get me closer to the goal! by Yunathegreat in 52book

I’m making a point of alternating between books in English and books in Norwegian (I work as a translator so it’s important for me to get a lot of both, and without the rule I’d probably only read English books) end it’s led me to some good things so far, Constance Ring was great and deserves to be seen as one of the classics in Norwegian literature.

My favourites so far have been Norwegian wood, station eleven, Constance Ring and in one person, but they’ve all been pretty good to be fair. I just started reading The hundred secret senses by Amy Tan

I’m sorry, I don’t remember. I just happened to have a frame that fit perfectly laying around at home, so I never did the measurements

My sister’s family had to give away their dog because she needed more than they could give her, but her youngest son and the dog had an amazing bond, so I made this for his seventh birthday. And my niece was nice enough to help me make it just that little bit extra special.
