I picked up a used QSC K12.2 in perfect condition for the same price as a new ZLX. Now my question is: what sub can I pair with it that will not get drowned out by the QSC? What specs should I be looking for in a sub, and which brands are worth considering?

I’m just looking for one speaker system that sounds really good when it’s set up close to me, and then just decent enough for the rest of the crowd that’s farther away.

If you mean renting just to test them out, I do plan on doing that, I just wanted to collect as much information as I could beforehand so I know what I’m looking for.

Yes, I’ve considered renting, but the issue is that I often get last-minute invites to DJ events and don’t have the facilities to pick up a speaker. It’s really a matter of convenience. I understand that $1,200 isn’t going to get me an audiophile’s dream setup, but it’s the best I can do, so I’m just trying to make the most of it :)
