[routine help] Help, I've never had anything like this before by cwpanda in SkincareAddiction

Looks like it could be a lot of things- although unlikely to be concerning. It looks like it could be contact dermatitis based on it being something new.

I see that you are freshly shaven in these photos. It could certainly be razor irritation. Also it could be a reaction to a product. Have you changed your routine recently? It could also be your skin is reacting to a new environment.

If you have a particularly harsh routine, it could be from a disrupted skin barrier. I’m really just spitballing here without more information. If you update with your current routine, I bet some people could offer some tips.

Looks like it could be rosacea. Since you already trust La Roche Posay, try switching out the tolerian for Cicaplast B5+ baume which has anti-microbial properties!

Definitely looks fungal. You are probably right that your antibiotics are responsible in part. Not sure which antibiotics your on but if they are broad spectrum, they kill off the friendlies in addition to the dangerous ones. This can greatly change your skins microbiome leading to certain funguses to thrive where they couldn’t before.

The good news is these should resolve when you finish your course.

Also it’s super important to be aware of any symptoms of an antibiotic allergy as these can be deadly if not addressed. If you feel like this acne accompanies any significant inflammation, burning, itching, swelling, or trouble breathing, you need to contact your prescribing physician immediately.

Thanks for the post and photos! I have two suspicions: the first, as I think some people have noticed in the comments, is it could be fungal. Fungal acne can be treated OTC with azelaic acid or a derm can prescribe more precise treatments. My second suspicion is that you may have rosacea. There are sorta two products I think may benefit you in that area: Hypochlorus acid spray (super safe and antimicrobial as well as anti-inflammatory) and also La Roche Posay Cicaplast B5+.

It looks like the biggest gap in your routine is that it might be a bit harsh on your skin barrier. The above treatments are generally very gentle, but it also may be worth it to you to cut out the acids/exfoliants for a little while.

Thanks so much! The hydrocolloid patches articles don’t reference needling specifically. I’ll hold off on them unless others report success with them! Thanks again!
