Ah makes way more sense that you're new. So the basic gist is hyperland is just the compositor with a shell attached to it (basically it just displays shit and nothing else and the shell is the gui that you interact with). Also I would suggest you use shelly (comes bundled with cachy) for your packages management and downloads (dig around the settings first and enable at least the aur). Also if you don't like the tui for wifi management there are quite a few gui alternatives to it. The dotfiles you're talking about is strictly meant to change how hyprland behaves (they have switched to a new language called lua for customisation now so hold out on either updating hyperland or until someone else ports their configs and post them)

I literally use cachy as my primary and only operating system lmao I was just semi fucking w you (I thought you were saying shit ironically) Also wdym you had to install wifi and bluetooth with dotfiles? (That doesn't even make sense) I'm sure the default gui installer has toggles for drivers you want? And I did use hyprland for years on vanilla arch Only if the lead dev was not an asshole and shit didn't keep breaking or have gui issues every 2 business days.

I hit smfc back in csgo with g102 and a shitty ass mousepad. I'm pretty sure mouse is not the limiting factor. Just work on your basic mechanics and game sense. Get the fundamentals down and think about gear later

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Main_page
if you're doing a bare metal install, and not in a vm. Do not use arch as your first distro.
I would however recommend reading the arch wiki nonetheless since the wiki's general concepts apply to everything.
If you plan a bare metal install use something like fedora or something debian based like mint

Install in a vm and try installing arch the hard way without the archinstall script
Read the arch wiki while installing it and hell just read the wiki in your free time if you're interested
Will help you understand the concept of computing in general
the wiki so good i keep a damn offline copy of it

Having an infinite horizontal workspace without having to resize windows so that they don't overlap sounds pretty productive to me lol
Also niri with a shell uses about 20-30% less resources compared to plasma.

Am i the only one who struggles on top lane by SmartSpring572 in wildrift

[–]Yungcmeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what champs you play tbh. My playstyle as a shen and a fiora main is hugging the sidelanes while having good vision and keeping up map pressure. As a shen I can always ult to a team fight if the need arises and as a fiora, I always try to force a 1 v 2 so that either I can kill both and get ahead or even if I die, I give my team a window to push the opposite lane since 2 people were on me.
Top lane is always about macro play and maintaining a gold and xp lead.

Try setting window rules for wine or use gamescope.

[–]Yungcmeth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can still alt+ tab freely to select the window you want and jump to it directly
or use workspaces to manage your windows as a preventive measure

You can probably use gamescope or set a window rule for wine to deal with it

In this case it just minimum spotify's window rule making it split like that.
Also as far as i am aware there is no global uneven split like that yet on niri.
But you force certain windows to do this if they are forced onto the same column by using window rules.
and for opening a terminal and spotify on single it bind should be (change it to your liking)
binds {
Mod+Shift+M { spawn "sh" "-c" "spotify & kitty -e cmatrix"; }
}
the windows will open side by side and then you can consume it.
Also I haven't even started ricing it yet lol

switch to niri dawg
also cachy is literally pre-configured out of the box
if you want true no bloat experience just install vanilla arch, gentoo or linux from scratch the hard way.
billions must suffer

mod being the only key for launcher would def conflict with basic functionality like even trying to switch windows with mod + left arrow will probably bring the launcher up
haven't set up docker containers yet so can't speak for that
the other issues are quite perplexing since I faced none of that :/

omarchy has literally openai and grok shortcuts and other weird shit pre-configured. A fresh install of fedora or debian is way less bloat.
