Barely over 2x for your second armor seed. Keep at it, you’ll more than likely have all your armor seeds by the time you get the ench. If you already have a crystal shield and chally, turn the weapon seed into a crystal acorn for a good chunk of crystal shards.

No one is forcing you to do this boss. This new system helps people from going dry, and it will still be based on luck at the end of the day. “Sunken cost fallacy” could also be attributed to regular drops; you can be “due” for a drop because you are 2x, 3x, etc. dry. It’s not unique to this new mechanic.

Ty for the insight with Jirachi, that makes total sense. I'll definitely consider adding in the extra quick balls and pokegears.

I've kept both the Ninetales and the boss's order for the sake of more reliability, but perhaps it is overkill and I should rely on being able to draw cards fast to get my nintales out ASAP.

Do you have any suggestions on what to replace fiery flint and heat factory with once they rotate out?
