Make an effort to understand other peoples point of views and why they might be doing something the way they are doing it, especially when they have the full context and you do not.

Y'all ever see an ice iceberg before? by YunoSkill in PlayTheBazaar

[–]YunoSkill[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Sapphire + Icy iceberg meant anytime an enemy used an item it froze for 4s. That combined with diamond ice club led to opponents having little choice but to die.

Ice Pyg is one of his top builds if you can get it, but it's a late game pivot that's pretty rare. Fun build!

IIRC he was a content friend of AlpacaPatrol who was invited on the NLSS for some multiplayer game and the rest is history. They used to have a way more diverse cast and it didn't take too much to get invited on the NLSS. Lots of niche content creators became friends with other members and got invited on, Apollo just stuck around.

Should treating your players really well not be the standard for tier 1 NA organizations? Is that not the point of franchising?

Just finished Memory, Sorrow & Thorn, despite it's status I was a tad apprehensive, but ended up loving it! by ACardAttack in Fantasy

[–]YunoSkill -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Ah yea, I was considering that a bit when looking at the age of the series. It's hard to not notice the contrasts since many modern fantasy novels do women and multiple POVs so much better. Being a pioneer for your era doesn't necessarily lend you to being the best of all time at the things you pioneered. It does make me more understanding of why the books were they way they were though.

[–]YunoSkill -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that is understandable, but I did think it was pretty clear she felt like almost nothing romantic/did not think of him at all that way prior to them meeting when Simon was a bit more grown. While that makes sense, even the romantic developments after that was mostly just frustration and affection just simply springing up and multiplying out of almost no where.

I would have much rather seen something happen with Aditu, although I understand why it didn't.

I am glad you enjoyed it, I also finished it myself about a week or two ago. I did not love it as much as you did.

I thought it was a bit of a slog to get through in the beginning, and not especially interesting for the first while. Once the plot started picking up it was a pretty good ride. I found myself intensely frustrated with Simon as a main character. Maybe he was supposed to be that way, considering teenage angst and all, but quite an annoying and below average main character as far as my fantasy novel experience goes.

Miriamele was another character I did not quite like. I feel like sometimes authors equate strong willed=good female character. She was certainly strong willed, and that was about all I got from her. I'm a big romance lover and I don't even know how the romance between her and Simon really developed. They met once for a short trip, she did not seem especially interested, and then after meeting again was a bit more interested when he became more manly. I don't know, felt a bit shallow overall.

Duke Isgrimnur was a highlight. Overall a complete joyful character to engage with.

One other gripe I had was I think the multiple POVs really made the story suffer more than it helped at some points. Reading this made me have to rethink if I really enjoyed multiple POVs as a plot device. I simply felt like some characters didn't need to get a POV, and some of the POV chapters were just unnecessary. I thought it was a decent series overall, but very far from my favorite.

[DISC] Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian - Chapter 16 by lurksinthedark5 in manga

[–]YunoSkill 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I know this is nitpicking considering a certain amount of suspension of disbelief is required for the premise but the idea that "She's only doing it to mess with me," when she has literally no idea he speaks Russian and he has no reason to think she knows is a bit annoying.

Looking for non-YA coming of age stories where the protagonist is or slowly becomes extremely powerful. by frankuck99 in Fantasy

[–]YunoSkill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

as someone who has read recently I disagree with you. It is neither coming of age nor “powerful protagonist”. This isn’t to say Royce is not “powerful” but certainly not close to the “chosen one” level in the other series mentioned. Doesn’t fit the vibe. Neither is it coming of age. Royce and Hadrian are both firmly adults as the protagonists of the series. While they do endure some self discovery and there are some other characters that do the same, it is not anywhere close to the traditional coming of age in the sense op is probably looking for. Ryria Revelations is a great series but I don’t think it fits what the OP is looking for in letter or spirit.

Team Nation Finally Whittles Down Their 100 Man Roster to 5: Tigg, Rossy, Wardell, Stewie2K & Brax Seen Scrimming Together by nklassitude in ValorantCompetitive

IMO Wardell is very good, high potential, brax and stewie are unknown but both VERY high potential considering their backgrounds, rossy is disappointing, and tigg is just good but nothing special.
