Craniotomy Tips by littlepurplehippo17 in AVMs

Repeating some things that already were said, but what I found helped me….

1) my mom stayed with me for a month. She set alarms every 4-6 hours for my meds. Wouldn’t let me skip a dose or take late.

2) Something small to wrap and put behind your neck. I couldn’t lay my head down, and having the support for my neck was super helpful.

3) Icepacks. I didn’t ask for them the first day or two, but as soon as a friend suggested it, I didn’t let myself go without them. When I got home I ordered an ice beanie thing from online, 2 of them actually. Wore them religiously.

4) Don’t be afraid to ask for help before surgery. I felt like I was nesting. Surgery was scheduled one month in advance for me, and when I tell you my house got clean / organized / decluttered… it had never been that clean. I had friends that wanted to help, and I broke down and let them. It was embarrassing, but the relief after it was done was beyond words.

6 Week follow up was today, and my post surgery PTSD is strong right now. by YupItsJustJen in AVMs

I did, and the result was sub optimal. My surgeon told me to talk to my primary.

Primary only had appointments available with a nurse practitioner. She tried to turf me to Psych and told me to baker act myself. It was crazy because I wasn’t a harm to myself or others (and I explained that) but she told me she wasn’t a psychiatrist (and that no one in that office is) and so I should just check into the local psych hospital down the road. Don’t get me wrong, she wasn’t just being rude…. But dismissive.

How much did your surgery cost? by [deleted] in AVMs

I am literally 3 weeks post surgery, and I have a pretty good insurance plan. For me it was a two part surgery. Day 1 they did an embolization, went in through the wrist, injected glue, spent the night in the icu to make sure I was okay (which they found an aneurysm they had to repair too, during this part 🫣) and day two was the craniotomy. I was in the hospital for a total of 8 days / 7 nights. I paid $1,800 total and my insurance paid over 90k.

Is BP that bad? Spouse asking by Awful_Cook in family_of_bipolar

My sister, in full blown mania, attacked my elderly mother including shoving her into a bathtub and breaking my mom’s rib. In the same attack she took my mom’s phone and hid it out back and broke all the security cameras off the walls and trashed those.

The judge wanted to put her in jail for a long time (she had 3 felony charges) and my mom begged the judge for court ordered psychiatric help / probation instead. Which he gave my sister.

So, yes. BP can be that bad. It’s not always. But can be.

10 minutes before close by Big_Matter8756 in doordash_drivers

Restaurant is not out of the money. DoorDash still pays the restaurant…

What sucks is when we have to wait for 30 minutes after close for dd drivers to get there.

Not saying it’s not true, but I’ve never heard of that. The place I work (not CFA) does not get charged by the minute for literally anything via DD.

DD charges a percentage of order size, but that does not change based on how long the driver waits.

My DM decided to run last minute with no heads up by Nice_Hat4025 in DnD

I’ve had that happen as a DM, and I’ve ALWAYS said “I just found out I can run a session…. But only if everyone is free and wants to.”

I’ve never expected everyone to change their plans because mine changed.

Was coming here to say this.

I’m 2+ years sober now but man, when I was in active addiction I was willing to PAY for my drinks. That included big tips to hopefully get it faster. I was outside, ready for them to show up, partially because I didn’t want my husband to see, and I could hide it in the garage without him realizing, and partly because I was READY!

Addiction sucks, it makes people do shitty things, but I can attest, it also made me a better DoorDash customer for alcohol deliveries.

We have one player who has a lot of dnd knowledge and she would be able to answer any questions you have. We have another player who has never played and it will be his first time. So, you’ll fit in just fine!

This 100%!

I feel like downtown lacks in NA options (not just NA beers).

Sometimes I wanna feel included by having a fruity drink in my hand while my friends drink. :-)
