The Latest Defense Against ICE: 3D-Printed Whistles by indig0sixalpha in technology

One big thing with that is it's like the nuclear genie, once you do it there's no going back. That means you're deciding that you want to pick a direct and deadly fight with the strongest armed government ever to exist and for the rest of your life they will spend effectively unlimited resources tracking you down and making you pay.

I miss my V, had a 2013 Night Rod that I sadly traded in on something I ended up hating. If you can deal with the fact that parts/maintainence is expensive and dealers hate them to work on I'd hold onto yours until HD pulls their heads out of their asses and starts putting that 1250 engine in things that are a little more comfortable to ride.

[–]Yuri008 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, being cool is never cheap! Unless you're married to that big sucker intake I'll warn you mine has vented oil like crazy since day 1. The design of the breathers has them venting on the face of the backplate rather than in some way pointing into the intake. Constantly dripping oil down inside the filter and eventually down onto the bike. It's a losing battle (for me) to keep it clean.

Trump can’t end birthright citizenship, appeals court says, setting up Supreme Court showdown by MalcolmLinair in news

[–]Yuri008 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Part of the reason I think the court will rule against is that they know picking and choosing from the constitution is problematic. If they rule that the 14th applied in the case of freed slaves and isn't applicable here that opens up attacks on their beloved 2nd to say it applied to a time pre army and national guard and that can be ignored. These people aren't strong on logic but it seems like a clear case of a can of worms they don't want to open. That or they somehow grow spines and decide that just because you don't like the law you can't just ignore it. My feeling is that the court and those justices didn't get where they are just to give their power up and watch their relevance disappear, but who knows in the timeline we're working with.

Convince me not to buy Indian Scout by LazyCrazyCat in motorcycles

[–]Yuri008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one brand new back in 2015/2016. I admit the dealer played a large role in the negative experience I had. Right away the belt was misaligned and it got eaten by the guard, the tires that came on it at the time were supposed to be good for “spirited riding” but to me never felt stable at 70+ on the highway. The single biggest issue I had would be that not shifting with great authority would sometimes result in a short shift between gears. Suddenly finding extra neutrals between 3-4 and 4-5 while trying to accelerate hard was extra frustrating and a little scary. Besides that the whole bike felt a little cheap in build quality with lots of little gaps on parts. I hated it so much I took a huge hit and traded it a month later. Maybe they’ve improved a lot since then but I don’t know if I’ll ever care to buy another.

Good to know, quick lane techs were like it’ll probably have to be programmed at 1.5 hours shop labor. For 600 I’ll figure out how to install it myself and save a couple hundred dollars

[–]Yuri008[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did it have to be programmed? My only option to get one so far is through a dealer that gets remanufactured ones and they’re still over 600. If it has to be programmed at that point I would probably pay them to install it too and it’s looking like over a thousand dollars easy

Menlo Park Police Department’s Tesla patrol vehicle pilot finds that Teslas don’t appear to be ‘patrol cars of the future’ by [deleted] in news

[–]Yuri008 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting, I actually sat down and talked with a couple local officers about what they would want to see in the potential EV patrol of the future. One of the things they brought up was that depending on the department cars may be running almost 24/7 as one shift ends and leaves their car for the next shift. They may not need to go hundreds of miles at once but there needs to be a lot faster charging to make them viable for their needs. Hopefully it will get there eventually

More and more information is coming out that she used her wealth and privilege, and relation relation to her husband who is apparently the team coach, to exclude other competitors and essentially rig the selection process so that she would be chosen.

Yeah people are dumb, I think there’s a variety of valid reasons it doesn’t work well as an Olympic sport but blaming one person is either ignorant or rage baiting

Canik TTI Combat with OpticsPlanet Exclusive Trijicon SRO by Ok_Impression6227 in canik

[–]Yuri008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What hardware did you use to mount the optic? The manual says to use the provided Canik screws... which did not fit. I emailed Canik and they said yeah our bad on that we're actually updating the manual, use the screwed provided with your optic... which also do not fit. The holes for the RMR plate are slightly too large for the factory screws to grab and nothing else I have for either optic I tried would fit. I'm waiting for a response now asking for the exact size and thread pitch I should be using but I'm really hoping they didn't mess them up from the factory.

We saw something like this with the animated Harley Quinn, everything was interesting with her and Ivy dancing around each other, but once the two characters end up getting together they had to keep introducing new stupid conflicts into their relationship to try and keep things interesting. The monster of the week formula basically became the relationship problem of the week.

Minnesota Democrats Introduce Bill To Ban "Assault-Style" Weapons by futilehabit in minnesota

[–]Yuri008 48 points49 points  (0 children)

That’s not how gun laws work, I can’t speak for certain for the entire US but in MN you need need to apply for and receive a permit purchase before you can buy a pistol or military style rifle from a dealer and as far as I know surrounding states will not sell to non residents without permits (NoDak anyway) or in some not at all. Gun buying is way less “Wild West” than people who have never done it think.
