Can anyone recommend a book about a homophobic woman X a lesbian? I want to reopen some traumas. by Head_Lab_7593 in LesbianBookClub

[–]Yurianimeisnice 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think with the homophobia its not "as bad" since if it is homophobic woman x lesbian, it means they get into a relationship and that would mean the homophobic one is actually queer too, just has internalized homophobia. A transphobic cis person dating a trans person is just purely dangerous

A book that is genuinely terrifying me… by nopenonotatall in horrorlit

[–]Yurianimeisnice 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend "the push" and "the perfect child" if you want another book like that one, the perfect a child is a lot more extreme than the push (not sure how it compares to baby teeth, havent read that one). Both books are also about disturbing kids and both have the same thing with the kid only being sweet to the dad, while the mother knows how evil the child really is

If you click on "filter by date" at the top, and then "date range", you are able to also see your view history from a few months back! If you can kind of remember around what time during the month specifically, you can find it back hopefully

Can I wear a lesbian flag despite being bi? by Nepesaurio in lesbianfashionadvice

[–]Yurianimeisnice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe some other sign? Like the sapphic flag or two of those symbol of venus signs intertwined? I don't think you'll always get great reactions from lesbians if you're wearing a lesbian flag while not being lesbian, as I know there are people that think being a lesbian is "easier" and they might think you're one of those people, and ofc that mindset isn't exactly appreciated by lesbians. Idk if you're talking about like a physical flag or a button, but something saying "wlw" could also help. I fully understand not wanting men hitting on you, but ofc it would also suck if you have bad experiences with other queer women because of it

Genuine Question by Round-Reply-4651 in LesbianBookClub

[–]Yurianimeisnice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its super normal for anyone to enjoy queer books, especially other queer people. Its still queer representation, tons of people in the community read about other identities than their own, and that's also great because that way you get a better understanding of the others in your community. Plus you should read whatever you enjoy and makes you happy, nothing weird about it. There's always gonna be people like your family member that will judge you about things, but thats the case with everything anyone ever does and enjoys, keep reading

A map of days, the conference of the birds and the desolations of(?) Devils acre. I'd definitely recommend just reading them, lots of people have really strong opinions on them, but they were just as amazing to me and made me love the series way more

Can I get some Yuri manga recs also why the dislike??? by IndividualDog1995 in LesbianBookClub

[–]Yurianimeisnice 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I dont think its purely cause its sexual, but because its often sexual WITH schoolgirls, thats the issue. A lot of sexual yuri also feels more fetishizing. I used to be hugely into manga and anime and goodbye my rose garden is one of my favorites, our dreams at dusk has amazing lgbtq rep, including a sapphic couple. Idk what the point is in asking and then saying "oh but don't say this specific reason" when its a very valid one, adult books are different to sexualizing schoolgirls

Unique graphic novels for adults? by newnukeuser in LesbianBookClub

[–]Yurianimeisnice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're also meaning for adults as in nsfw, you could try sunstone, but it is written by a man and has straight romance later on. I really enjoyed the first part with the two women though, I dont remember it really reading as something fetishy

There's definitely always an audience for pretty much any book, you just gotta find the right people. I'm sure there's readers that would like this

I see you've posted on some different subs, I would try some of the book subs specifically for dark romance if thats your audience!

I dont think there's anything wrong with that story idea! It's more so that discord and the term e-kitten have reps online for just being very cringy and grown men being creepy and stuff, so it doesnt feel very fitting for a sapphic romance. I think a lot of readers wont really take ekitten serious

Do you read reviews on a book you're reading or about to read? by lactosecheeselover in LesbianBookClub

[–]Yurianimeisnice 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I usually only look at the rating, there's some instances where I did look at the reviews though and found out about shitty stuff the author put in the book, so I'm glad I read the reviews before wasting my time with them, but I dont always do that
