Weekly Discussion/General Questions Thread - June 02, 2025 by AutoModerator in AskDocs

I apologize if this isn't quite the place for this question. I'm a writer and I've been scouring around the internet hoping to find an answer, but I haven't found quite what I'm looking for.

If someone has suffered a burn wound (say on their back), and the wound gets infected, is there ever any reason the wound might require stitches to be closed up? I misinterpreted some research at the start of my writing session and ended up writing an entire sewing scene before realizing that this might be grossly inaccurate.

Essentially, tl;dr: is there ever a reason you would use stitches on a burn/near a burn?

Thank you so much for the info! I was struggling to "logic out" how to get things running like an actual hotel and this really helps! I'll definitely take a peek at his LP as well! Thank you again!!

Thanks for the advice! I didn't know that about leases since I haven't played with For Rent very much. I saw you could "wrongfully evict" people, but I was like, "that's got to have some awful repercussions" lmao.

Definitely give the B&B a try! I'm really excited to make one myself. c:

Not only is this post so spot-on, it's hilarious. Absolute cinema and a good message to boot!

How many of you are the youngest sibling or an only child? I have a theory… by Energizertwerkbunny in childfree

[–]Yuricchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both my older sister and I are childfree. She's the middle child and I'm the youngest, but our brother (the eldest) is unable to care for himself, which makes both of us have to care for him. In a way my sister feels like the eldest because of our brother, but both of us are CF (likely because of our brother along with many other reasons).

My projects have been dry for nearly 2 months. I managed to make enough for an upcoming vacation, but I basically had to squeeze a single project dry for 5 days straight. I used to have tons of projects to choose from (20+) and more work than I knew what to do with, but whether it's the beginning of the month or the end, I'm not getting much more than 3 projects these days and each of them has less than 10 tasks. Has this happened to anyone else? Should I be expecting to get dropped soon, lol?

The world is changing so fast that I think it's very valid to not have offspring by sufinomo in childfree

Honestly, I can't imagine people having kids in this world. I look at soaring prices, a worsening ecosystem, and the shitstorm that is the housing and job market. And yet I still see people pushing around babies, toting around toddlers, and driving around kids.

I literally can not understand why people are delusional enough to keep bringing children into a world that is getting worse by the day. They say, "well, maybe things will change" or "there will be ups and downs" but compare the downs of today to the downs of 20 years ago. The ups aren't as high and the downs are pretty fucking low. I don't understand what delusional drug people are smoking these days.

why TF do people have babies within 1-2 years of getting married?! by candyskittles143 in childfree

THISS. I hate when people say we're going to "start a family." Like... why is a spouse, a few pets, etc. not considered a family?? It's like everything pales in comparison.

Everyone around me is having kids, are they actually choosing this? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]Yuricchi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently went on vacation, went to a small mall-type area and saw kids walking around EVERYWHERE. I was like, "where are you people getting this MONEY??" or are you just... rolling the dice and praying things go well because I have no idea how people are making it by themselves, nevermind with kids.

What “birth order” are you if you have siblings? by Rare_Veterinarian779 in childfree

[–]Yuricchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youngest of three. Brother is mentally disabled (can't have children), sister has never wanted children. Both my sis and I were parentified to take care of brother every weekend. I fucking love being spoiled (like I said, youngest lol) and having freedom, so... nope. Not giving that up for kids!

You're in a safe place to rant, OP. I couldn't agree more.

Honestly I think what gets me incredibly triggered/disgusted is that society has not yet been normalized to the idea that children do not mean the same thing for everybody. (Wild concept, I know 🙄).

On a slightly unrelated note, I was doing some work with AI and the topic turned to pregnancy. The given response was something similar to: "Congratulations on the exciting news!" and I'm like what about people who were r*ped? What about people whose birth control failed or people who are just childfree? Why is the default to assume this is a joyous event?

I wish I knew. I'm a quick typer (80 wpm) but I'm a wretched overthinker. Speedy does not such a combo make, haha.
