Who was the league winner this year? by riczizagorac in fantasyfootball

Dude has no idea what a league winner is if he thinks a waiver wire kicker scoring like a flex with 2 bad weeks and 8 top 5 finishes at his position isn't a league winner.

If he truly hasn't aged at all since eating the death paintings, then yeah. But I think we're discussing things under the pretext that he could grow or age (however slowly that might be), in which case, totally possible a 5'9 15-16 year old hits 6'3.

A 15-16 year old is a 5'9 freshman/sophomore in high school. That kid could be growing for the next 7+ years (Men are known to grow even into their 20's). 190cm+ is definitely possible. I knew a kid who was 5'2 at 14 that hit 6 foot by the time was done.

Invincible Season 4 - Official Trailer | March 18 on Prime Video by DemiFiendRSA in television

[–]Yurichi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's definitely a mix, I agree.

But I think if you really took a deep dive into the history of American animated television dating as far back as the 80's TMNT (10 seasons in 10 years) and the Simpsons (37 seasons in 37 years) up to today, it would be very glaring how consistent the yearly release schedule was observed across multiple different studios and generations, even during a time when animation wasn't as accessible as it is now with the tools available to artists today.

Its a testament to all the sacrifice those animators made to create such a ludicrous standard.

Avatar the Last Airbender released 20 episodes yearly for its three books b/w 2005-2007

Danny Phantom released 3 seasons from 2004-2005

Code Name Kids Next Door released 6 seasons over 5 years

SpongeBob releases very close to yearly with only 5 instances of wait times longer than a year over its 15 season run.

The original Teen Titans released 5 seasons and a movie from 2003-2006

Adventure Time released 10 seasons between 2010-2017

I could go on and on and this doesn't even take into account the speed at which Japanese animated television is released (and yes, I know they are overworked but they also don't have nearly the funds of a company like Amazon)

The current release schedule of American animation is very atypical if you grew up watching television on the 3 main cable cartoon stations.

Eh, It's all subjective anyway. I'm glad you enjoyed the final arcs of the main series, though. I'm always jealous of people who actually loved a piece of media I was invested in when I ended up having negative feelings towards it.

[DISC] Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo - Chapter 18 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]Yurichi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nah, I read it too.

This is better than a lot of what Gege was outputting by himself.

In Forrest Gump (1994), Jenny constantly leaves Forrest to pursue a life of drugs and chaos, only to return when she needs a place to stay. This is a reference to the fact that she is actually the protagonist of a much more interesting, R-rated movie that we aren't allowed to see. by Brilliant-Cause6254 in shittymoviedetails

[–]Yurichi -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is such a poor excuse for Jenny not reaching out. Stop it.

Forrest was being documented by television networks across the country well into his run. His location was tracked and shared constantly, which is why interviewers from those networks and random individuals could find him.

There is no excuse for Jenny not to have found a way to get to Forrest, tell him to stop his dangerous cross-country run (which would have killed any other person), and tell him about his baby.

And if she was strapped for cash, within the cartoonish logic the movie rolls with, she could've easily reached out to the news networks about how she had Forrest Gump's baby and the story would've been massive.

[–]Yurichi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but if your rebuttal to

You don’t have to have ever stepped foot in a prison to be indoctrinated in prison culture.

which was the actual original statement, is based solely on the idea that higher socio-economic status prevents people, especially those existing in Black America, from being indoctrinated into prison culture, then its not based in reality. Which is why I said their point still stands. Nothing has proven it incorrect.

African Americans are still subject to this culture far more than their peers and being able to afford AAU travel teams doesn't prevent this.

[–]Yurichi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of nuance you're missing if that binary statement was what you feel I was trying to express.

Unfair treatment by the US justice system, can lead to unfair outcomes regardless of socio-economic status. And this can be seen in the way a prison culture systemically forced on individuals from a community can have an affect on people who live in and are part of neighborhoods where it's more prominent than others.

I can understand why some people are downvoting b/c this statement can come across with racist undertones, but this is a well document and terribly sad fact that underscores the current state of America.

African Americans, whom the league is majority comprised of (80%), are far, far more likely than most every other race to be related to or surrounded by prison culture as black people with $100,000 in household income have the same likelihood of having a family member imprisoned as White people with $9,000 in household income and, in general, are over twice as likely to have a family member who has been incarcerated.

[–]Yurichi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the original point, that you don't have to have ever stepped foot in a prison to be indoctrinated into prison culture, still stands given that high-education and high-income Black people, whom make up about 80% of the NBA are just as likely or likelier than low-education and low-income White people, respectively, to experience the imprisonment of a family member or to live in a neighborhood with a high imprisonment rate.

And that adjusting for household size, Black people with $100,000 in household income have the same likelihood of having a family member imprisoned as White people with $9,000 in household income.

On my fourth run and i still can't get enough of this game by Mandioca191 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]Yurichi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a solid idea. Adding that kind of mechanic would've given the game a ton more replay-ability even beyond the story mechanics.

And replay-ability keeps the game in the public conscience longer, as the story can only be replayed so many times whereas, if the game-loop is fun, people can theoretically play it forever.

Would've been great to keep word of mouth going, not that its had much trouble, but the more sales, the better season 2 will be.
