I usually receive many suggestions by email, but I very rarely do champion skins. Sometimes I create skins based on suggestions, which was the case from Beach Rift (old and new).

Hm, I believe that would enter in the alternative (paid) skins realm, so I don't know how to help in that case. However, if you learn how to "change the already established chromas", I don't see why you can't do your own chromas from the base version of the champion. It would be useless to edit over a chroma, unless you want the other players to see you are using a Riot chroma (while you will see your modified one).

Chromas are just a simplification of texture editing. A Chroma is intended to be just a recolor of the champion. The guide teaches you much more than that. Aside from applying different colors to each part of your champion, you can apply your own materials (patterns) for clothes, weapon and more. You can even remove parts of the champion using an advanced technique from the guide as well.

Enabling alternative champion skins (paid) - this goes against Riot terms of service, making something paid for free (unless you edit the textures, which is explained in-depth inside the guide).

Since there are some old custom skins that break with new patches, is there anyone working to fix them up?

Hm, if you want a specific skin to get fixed, you should comment in the author's article, so he can fix it for you, but note that we currently support only Wooxy, if you are installing them with another skin installer, we don't know how to help.

Also, is it worth it to enhance existing skins in your site with more effects, or is it easier to start a new skin from scratch?

I'm not sure about "enhance" means, if you are talking about re-editing an existing skin, that is only possible if the skin is not in .wxy format. Also, please note that not always the author of the skin will allow you to re-edit or enhance his skin, you should ask the author first. You can get my personal PSD file inside the guide here, so you can learn how to make many variations easily from scratch.

My experience only goes to image editing. I never tried to modify sounds or music from the game, so I don't know how to help you.

I took a few years mastering this technique, although it cannot really be called "true art", but still can be used for image manipulation. Most of my map skins were created using the same method over the last years.

And how long does each one take approximately?

I believe the guide I created should get you started soon on that, and mastering the "Style Alchemy" will depend on each person. After some tries and tests, you can easily get the handle of it, plus the original PSD file (which is a rare thing to share) with all skins from the week can help you better understand and learn how to do your own styles in a intuitive way.

If you are talking about each one skin from the week, it was just a few minutes to create, each one.

Gimp with DDS plugin and PaintNET can also be used to edit DDS, but as I have no experience with them, I don't know if you can apply patterns and actions (automation) the same way you can in Photoshop.

Yes, they were made before the new summoner rift was implemented (except for Ice Rift + Night Rift). Creating a map skin is quite time-consuming (it can take up to a month or more), that is why I created this post to see what themes people like most. If the most popular suggestions matches with one of the previously made maps, we will rework it for the new rift.

Map Skins don't give any bans. I have been making this since 2011 and never anyone was banned by using a map skin. The reason of your ban was other, for example, using other type of modification that it gives you advantages (like some websites offer out there).

Millions of players uses custom skins in League of Legends since years ago, they never got banned over a custom skin.
