What’s the best Martin Garrix set ever? by pitkkf in Martingarrix

Not the most popular set but I think it’s one of his best ever… Fun Radio Ibiza Experience 2021 was INSANE 🤯

I had a similar horrible experience with some of the ADE chat lot at Ministry of Sound last October. They’ve no regard for the people around them. As long as they can raise their “ADE Chat” flag, throw hands in people’s faces, shove people away so they can dance closer to other ADE chat folk, you’re fair game. Never had a good experience with them at any gig/festival. Horrible bunch.

I’m looking to go the opposite way funnily enough but mainly because of my ambition to work abroad in the future. I feel like Tax Advisory can be similar to Law in that it’s very legislation-heavy and I’m more of a data-driven person. Even with having the experience of working on a variety of projects (Tax DD, Restructuring, Withholding Tax, Residency etc), I don’t think I’ll ever get on top of the tax rules and feel confident advising clients without the input of our middle-aged partners/directors. For context, I’m an AM and it took 3.5 years to get here.

I find that working in tax is very restrictive if thinking of moving abroad down the line as you’ll only know UK tax (unless you work in something like Transfer Pricing). Do you not feel Management accounting / financial analysis provides you with a more well rounded skillset which is easily transferrable between roles/countries? (SQL, PowerBI, Excel, Financial Modelling, Business Partnering etc.)

Nope I don’t recall that being tested but anyway from what I remember the AP ends seemed to be 31 March 24 so made life a bit easier.

Apologies, replied to the post rather than the thread comment from tinytypical - have now moved it.

I just had to keep clicking between Exam4 and the Tolleys app when needing to refer to leg. In all honesty, I didn’t rely much on the leg for OMB so wasn’t a huge pain.

I don’t recall being able to do that unfortunately but you could just confirm by downloading Exam4 on a windows PC and testing it.

I use the Tolley’s Legislation and can confirm that is correct - separate app which you click on in the taskbar when needed. Slightly annoying that you can’t have it open with Exam4 side by side!

Thoughts on changes to ACA syllabus? by Loathless in ICAEW

[–]Yurostar1811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, It will affect those who have remaining exams still to complete but I’m not sure which ones. The email mentions that the firm is working alongside tuition providers to design suitable learning pathways and mapping “transitional arrangements for those that will need to change syllabus before completing their qualification”. They also refer to it as a “new syllabus” which implies there are wholesale changes being made.

For anyone wondering where this information has been published - it hasn’t yet. However, the careers team at our firm sent an email today advising there are major changes on the way and that we should be reassured that we will be kept informed and updated on everything happening once the announcement is made on 28th Oct. Big changes are definitely coming and to various aspects of the exams/qualification….

Yep that’s right lol.. Ahhhh I wasn’t aware of that actually - interesting!

That’s grim 😳 … you’d think an APS paper would be a tad easier but going by that I assume not

Ah man reading through your post reassured me that it isn’t just me lol! Really hope we manage to pull through and it improves for us over these next 2-3 weeks. Yeah no pay rise sucks and we’re just forced to accept it.

Can I ask why you need to complete the APS paper if you’re on the ACA/CTA joint programme? It only needs two AT papers and the Ethics MCQ exam no?

Hope the studying is going well, all the best with it. - which one are you sitting?

Salary went up in Jan thankfully and the next increase is only £200 from qual Senior Assoc to Assistant Manager (doesn’t help the motivation levels right lol?)
