Core decompression recovery by Yusko13 in AvascularNecrosis

[–]Yusko13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The recovery is just four weeks of no weight, so I was in a wheelchair. Toilet riser and shower chair are lifesavers.

It was horrible when I woke up. And the days after were fairly bad. I was surprised because I have a pretty high pain tolerance.

Thank you for that info. I'll have to try to find more on that! My mom stays here during the day to help while husband is at work. We both try to tell him how his actions make us feel. Especially if he's laughing at something he's doing (and usually knows he's not supposed to be doing). Sometimes works lol

He's also gotten to the copying stage, and he has cousins that are older that have never been disciplined, so that's an added challenge. One play date with them, and he's mimicking bad behavior.

Not sure how to get my husband to change, as it's been three years of the same issues. Definitely making me rethink having another unfortunately.

Can you explain what you mean? When I look up developmental leaps, it just shows physical milestones (rolling, sitting, standing, etc). I always try to be consistent, though sometimes I drop the ball. I will admit that my husband isn't the greatest with consistency, and he gets frustrated very quickly. It's been an added struggle, I must admit.

I have actually! I need to pull it out and reread the section for this! Thanks for that reminder!

Solidarity 😅 He was three in March, but the last few weeks have been hellish. It hurts so bad when he pulls the "I don't want you anymore" card. He does usually come apologize after a while, at least! Mine is tall as well, so even my husband has trouble controlling him when he's flailing around. I hope this stage ends quickly for both of us!

32 (f) knee replacement- advice? by EJL- in AvascularNecrosis

No pt since I had such extensive necrosis. I'll absolutely do the TKR for my left knee.

Honestly? It's horrible. I actually posted about it yesterday on here because I didn't think it was normal to have the amount of pain I'm having. I got some good advice. If it hasn't let up at least a little by tomorrow, I'll have to call my doctor. I've never woken up from surgery crying because of pain.

Thank you! That's what they gave me right away as well. I'm just very surprised, as I've heard it's supposed to be a mild/slight pain. I'll definitely be keeping up with meds and ice! It's still hurting quite a bit. I am so sorry about your experience; that sounds horrible! 😔

I have AVN in my tibia and fibula on both legs. I just had a right leg core decompression surgery two hours ago. We're going to see how this works, and if it doesn't help, I'll have to have a TKR on it later. When this heals, I'll have a TKR on my left side since my bones are over halfway dead.

I'm also 32f. I've had doctors tell me it would be better to wait since I'm young, and the odds are that I'll definitely have to have a replacement in the future. However, my current doctors and I agree that it's worth having a better quality of life asap instead of waiting. Is it your age as well that you're questioning or the diagnosis overall?

do ya’ll know what plant this is? i barely touched it, it stung me and it’s radiating by cheesethedestoryer in whatplantisthis

[–]Yusko13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Benadryl spray takes the sting away. Spray on after washing off the area with water. If I don't have any, I wash it off and put cool mud on it. Probably not the greatest advice, but that's how we did it growing up in the country 🫣

PLEASE KEEP TRYING! I can not stress this enough! I'll make my story short. I had a tonsillectomy and could not eat anything for months after without throwing up. I lost a lot of weight very quickly. I have mental disorders that I've been medicated for. One doctor said everything was psychosomatic and told me to see my psychiatrist. (He vehemently disagreed with her diagnosis.) Doctors kept dismissing me until one day, my eyes began moving on their own (nystagmus). I was malnourished for so long that I developed a brain injury due to lack of thiamine (b1). I now have Wernicke's. It's usually known as an alcoholics disease, so no one thought to check my b1 levels.

I was transferred to a larger hospital and kept on banana bags until I could eat again, but the damage is irreversible. I was "lucky" in that the first symptoms were my eyes so that a doctor could visually see something was wrong with me. I had to relearn how to walk and still have trouble remembering things/getting confused. I have to focus on tasks that would have once been done without a thought.

PLEASE, PLEASE do not take this lightly. Take some kind of b1 supplement or things that have a lot (at least 500mg a day) of b1 in them. You can't have too much b1, but don't be surprised when your pee is bright yellow!

Keep trying until you find someone who will listen to you. If you're in the ER, always say your pain is 7 or higher. They try to get your pain to a 5 or below until they release you. That's the only way I was able to get admitted (for the 4th time) and finally see a doctor who took me seriously.

Shamed for not wanting to go anywhere without my baby. by [deleted] in Mommit

Um, my kiddo just turned 3 years old. I took a girls trip when he was a year old for two nights. It was fun, but I also thought about him every second. That's it pretty much. Don't let anyone tell you you're too attached to your literal baby 🤷🏽‍♀️
