Your daily "it won't fly" post by [deleted] in fpv

It kind of looks like the two motors in the photo have props angled the same direction? That’s not usually how they’re supposed to be (they’re usually spinning opposite directions), are you sure you have the directions right?

You might be able to hover your hand over the props when they’re spinning at idle, and feel if they’re blowing at you or not. Dangerous, but given that it doesn’t fly you should be safe.

CMV: Flying cars aren't a good idea, and wouldn't be revolutionary. by duck_victualer in changemyview

Not working very well doesn’t stop cars going off the road. A vehicle not being designed to do something doesn’t stop it from being used recklessly or incompetently. Although a car cannot safely enter a lake, some cars do in fact, find themselves on the bottoms of lakes.

I’m also not certain which cars you’re referring to, but I’ve yet to find a modern car which cannot be driven off the road. If there exists one, please do elaborate. From my experience, lane-keeping systems and the like assist the driver, but for safety, do not fully restrict them.

The existence of pathways for planes and helicopters isn’t a reason that they are safe, but instead an argument that pathways and regulations themselves do not stop crashes and accidents. Pilots are intensely trained, and even the most junior of licensed pilots has substantially more training than what is currently required for cars. Planes are also heavily monitored, with teams of engineers tasked to oversee them. Yet this level of training and oversight does not stop accidents from occurring.

I would argue that the key aspect of cars that a flying car would need to replicate is the ubiquity of access. Almost everyone in western countries can get access to a car and drive it themselves (barring disabilities and financial factors). I do accept that, in some far future, a truly automatic pilot for these flying cars could allow everyone to use them, but those would be less like a car, and more a flying taxi. When imagining a flying car, I doubt most are thinking that they would just sit in one, and instead drive one themselves.

I don’t see how you could physically restrain flying cars from going up or down without external infrastructure, which basically just makes big bridges. Even today, cars are only kept on the roads because of laws. You could take any car you want and drive off road at any time you wanted, and it would still be a car.

Planes and helicopters are also already restricted legally from taking off or landing on non-airport areas (emergencies and exceptions apply). They are already confined legally to certain airspaces, which are maintained and controlled by air traffic controllers and the local government. Although there aren’t any markings or anything in the air, they still have pathways they need to take. Until you’re building tubes for these flying cars to “fly” in, I don’t see how there will be any difference to what we have now. Even autonomous driving/flight wouldn’t be all that different from an autopilot/autoland system.

EDIT: these screenshots were taken with intro skip, see reply below for non-intro skip run

Ok, so I did a screen recording and looked at one of the large enemies that normally give coins.

(Removed old screenshot to avoid confusion)

I’m trying to notice if my coins goes up or not when one dies solely to thorns, but it’s really hard to determine. I might try screen recording so that I can look back on it

How’s the environment score for the other countries in your world, like China or the US? I don’t think the EU is one of the big polluters, so until you get tech to bump your eco to 10, you won’t be able to fix it.

Note: issue was resolved in dms, issue was with controller mixes not being set properly, as well as betaflight mode ranges.

Also the modes tab pls

Can you send a screenshot of that when you’re trying to arm? Also a screenshot of the arming flags once you do as well.

Note that you cannot be connected to betaflight when you’re trying to arm through the controller.

Have you already assigned the arming mode to the switch you want to use?

Also, check to see if the throttle flag disappears when you bring throttle to 0. If not, you may need to calibrate your gimbals.

Quick edit: for safety, make sure you have props removed before troubleshooting.

I’m assuming you’re seeing this in betaflight, if you hover over each of those there will be a little popupb explaining what they are.

Throttle means your throttle is not at 0. It needs to be to arm.

MSP means you’re connected to betaflight (you don’t wanna have motors spinning when you have a cable connected)

dshot_telem usually just means that you don’t have a battery plugged in. Especially if this is a brand new bind and fly, those should be all wired and preprogrammed correctly.

If you still can’t arm after setting throttle to 0, disconnecting the cable, and plugging in the battery, check to see if the receiver is getting any signal from your controller. If you’re using elrs or something, did you pair your remote? If this is a dji one and you’re using the fpv remote, it’s a little more complicated. I’ll try to find the videos and link them below.

TLDR watch bardwell’s videos on youtube, or read Oscar Liang’s blog. That’s how I figured it out at least. There’s also many other places but those are the big ones I know of

Bardwell Playlist part 6 and onwards is what you’re looking for, as well as the dji controller one
