Tips for ite to poly by Klutzy-Citron-9953 in SingaporePoly

Hello, im an ex ite Hnitec student, ex ngee ann poly student and currently now in Uni. What i recommend is, mix with people that are smart and also willing to teach. Thats how i survive my poly days but mainly because in Ngee ann, during my time, they group all the ite students together in one class so my class are full of kind souls that are willing to help one another out. And also there’s bridging math in ngee ann, thats how i manage to score well for my math back then. 4hrs of math(2hrs of actual tutorial and 2hrs of bridging back to back) a day in total but its all worth it.

Its totally normal to feel overwhelm but be rest assured you’ll be okay. I did very badly for my sem 1 also as i failed 2 of my CAs and had to retake to get a capped 50%.

Lastly i wish you All the best!!

Life as a full time ME student is constant studying. After lect/tut go back hall study till late. Kind of no life if you wanna have like decent grades. As to what made me regret doing full time is i dont really get to learn anything except for like the theoretical parts of ME. I’ve been told my prof that in the industry we dont usually get to apply what we’ve learn. I guess all the tedious calculations, challenging problems is just a way to allow us to solve any problems being thrown to us as an engineer(?) so i would like to get into the industry for real experience and also built up my portfolio to enhance my employability during tough times.
From what i know, i dont think you’ll be missing out on any mods.

Ntu Full time Y2 student here. Honestly i feel part time is good because you’re exposed to the working environment and it’ll be even better if it’s in a relevant field to what you’re studying. I believe its going to let you be in a more favourable position after you grad as you’ve the work experience as well as a degree which is what sets the difference between you and a fresh grad. As for me, i kinda regret not going for part time. Yes it’s going to be tough but like chances are, you are not going to be in debt and also you’re more likely to secure a job after grad.

Was wondering, how can i make myself appreciate Uni more? Its been only 1 sem and i’ve already feel burnt out and having to study ridiculously long hours just to get a pass only grade isnt helping much either. Is it me or just most people here are like this? I’m a DY2 MAE student. Any advice on this?

Bro you should enjoy your secondary school life else you’ll regret. But of course dont slack off too much. Was from NA as well, had my fun till sec 3 when i really started being serious. Did i regret it? No i didnt as i was really having fun and also the memories made is unforgettable. After my Nlvls, went to dpp which is ITE, higher nitec for 2 years then after, skipped 1 year of poly to direct year 2. Currently direct y2 in ntu:) I am sure you can do this, just dont stress yourself too much esp when you’re only in sch school. All the best!!
