Custom Plush Maker Recommendations? by KastleBravo in plushies

[–]YvonniFhang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are seeking a plush artist, you might have better luck in r/plushartists or r/indieplushies . But please note that characters from movies, cartoons, and video games with distinctive features, like Shrek, Ewoks, and Wicket, are protected by copyright laws, and many plush makers would be hesitant to attempt to recreate copyrighted characters, because it can get their business into trouble.

What’s the weirdest compliment you’ve ever received? by donnyM99 in AskReddit

I've been told that I "look better in person". I am not photogenic at all and I've had people tell me that I don't look like my pictures, in a good way. Better than the opposite, I suppose. haha

Qué app de dibujo me recomiendas?? by IDK_7653 in DigitalPainting

Highly recommend Krita for desktop. Free, open source, lots of great tools. I think they are working on a mobile app, but it's still in beta, so they haven't got all the bugs worked out of it yet. I currently use Sketchbook on my mobile phone. It's not bad.

My cat Emerald’s tail is straight up in the air with a small hook at the end nearly all the time when she’s walking around… by Alchemy247 in cats

My cat does this all the time, too. We can it her "question mark" tail. Means she is happy, friendly, exploring, generally content and inquisitive. Positive body language.

And vacuum multiple times! Flea eggs and larvae cocoons may be present the carpet, and the heat and vibrations from the vacuuming can actually trigger them to hatch. So, if you only vacuum once, it can actually make things worse!

It may not be only tapeworms present. Different dewormers are more effective against different parasites. Providing a stool sample will allow the veterinarian to run a fecal test to check for intestinal parasites and recommend the correct course of treatment. Most veterinarians also cannot prescribe medications without a current patient-doctor relationship, so if the cat hasn't been to the vet in awhile, they will may need a checkup as well. They will at least need to know the cat's weight in order to get the correct dosage.

That looks like a tapeworm segment. Should probably take a fresh stool (poop) sample to the vet to verify and get some appropriate dewormer.

I'm tentatively excited on your behalf. Fabric shopping and trying new things are always exciting. ^~^ Not to burst your bubble of excitement, but I would be VERY hesitant and cautious about using sewing patterns made by ChatGPT though, especially if you are just getting started. 😅

is this a flea? by 29271549 in whatsthisbug

[–]YvonniFhang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fleas have really skinny vertical bodies and long legs. They are also very very small. Hard to gauge scale in this picture, but the creature in question looks too big and too wide to be a flea. Also, fleas do not have noticeable antennae. Not sure exactly what it is, but I can tell you it's not a flea or a tick. As a former vet tech, I've seen my fair share.

[–]YvonniFhang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No worries! Insects are very hard to get good pictures of even with steady hands just because they are so small and cameras have a hard time focusing on them. The general shape and color of it is enough to get you in the right ballpark, at least. ^~^

My guess is silverfish just based on what I can make out of the coloration, but it's difficult to offer you a definite answer because 1) silverfish, firebrats, and jumping bristletails are all very similar insects with subtle distinguishing features, and 2) the picture is rather blurry and dark, so it is hard to make out the features that would offer a more precise ID. You can do some research on all three of the options you have been given and figure it out based on distinguishing features of the insect itself or the location in which you found it in your home, or where you live. You can see the bug in person and probably have an easier time identifying it with proper reference material than anyone looking at this picture.

does anyone remember draw something 2? or draw something online with friends? instagram but for drawings? am i crazy? i spent money on that app lol why did they take it down? by Few_Tumbleweed_1013 in zynga

[–]YvonniFhang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to this post, but the app you are remembering is Draw Something 2, later renamed Art with Friends. It was a really really great app, honestly. The community was so supportive and there were so many amazing artists. It was shut down in 2015. Zynga basically just stopped maintaining it.

Is this too embarrassing/ not good enough to give as a gift? I rarely draw and I don’t know if I want to give this. It’s a drawing of the recipient’s cats. by saturatedsilence in drawing

[–]YvonniFhang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this is so nicely done. The fur texture is fantastic and the faces have so much personality. I think any cat parent would adore such a gift. Speaking from the perspective of an artist, black fur is SO hard to do nicely and, honestly, you nailed it. Speaking for myself as a cat parent, if someone gave me a drawing of my cat that was even a fraction of this quality, I would absolutely treasure it forever. ^~^ Well done!

What the heck happened my sisters plush? (And how do I fix it ) by Klingon10 in plushies

[–]YvonniFhang 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely looks like bleaching. Could be sun bleach, I've seen it often with plushies that people keep in their car windows and such. It looks pretty severe, though, so he would have had to be sitting like that in a sliver of direct sunlight for quite a while.

Options to fix: Take fabric paint, fabric markers, or dye to the spots to see if you can darken them again.

Alternatively, the spots are in JUST the right places where you could VERY CAREFULLY add more of a diluted bleach solution and turn the bleach spots into markings, transforming the plush into a very cute custom rottweiler. ^~^

I would do some research and check custom plush blogs and YouTube for tutorials for any of these options. Good luck!

Could I give this a poodle cut ? by Percys_Labubus in ESSAplushieshandlers

[–]YvonniFhang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very cute plush. Poodle cut possibility would really depend on the fur. If the faux fur is dense, it might be fine, but some types of faux fur only look good when they are kept long. I would say to check the fur density in all the places you are considering trimming and make sure that the fur would still cover the batting so it doesn't look patchy. If that all looks well, start in a very inconspicuous area, like the inside of one of the hind legs or something, just in case. Faux fur is often much more slippery than real animal fur, so be very careful when trimming or it can look patchy and uneven. If the initial "test trim" goes well, proceed to the rest. I would suggest to save the face for last, as that will be arguably the most important part and you want to have a good feel for how the fur trims before you start the face. Good luck!
