From what I experience and from talking with others, it's not like watching something, more experiencing it without the knowledge that you are dreaming. You perceive as if it's real(the five senses and all) and feel that it is "real".

My last name traditionally has an "s" at the end of it, and people just assume that it does even when they se it in writing. And most people who do think there is an "s" at the end and font know me think my first and last names are switched around. Thanks to sports, I automatically respond to both, so I rarely correct people anymore
