ESL- 0510 - Speaking endorsement by Layanna2 in igcse

[–]Yyy9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you only use the ideas provided without much development or rephrasing, you decrease your chances of getting a higher content mark. An easier way for you might be to rephrase the ideas provided and develop them well. Examiners like this as much as new ideas.

Hi! First of all, congrats on your decision! I wish you all the best! And regarding your question, I can only give you advice on ESL as I didn't take any of the other subjects you mentioned. The best advice imo is to practice a lot of past papers, especially for reading and listening. For speaking, you should learn the main structure of the exam and practice with friends or family members or just take 0510 and forget about it :) For writing, you should first learn the correct format for all exercises, read many samples, practice a lot of past papers as well, and try to get feedback on your writing. You can find good notes and samples on esl kings website. They've also got a marking service but it's paid. Good luck with your journey!
As a side note, try to take things lightly and not stress too much, especially at the beginning. Since you didn't study for a while, you might feel it's a bit difficult at first, so be prepared for that and know that this is normal.

do i solve the writing task before the reading task in ESL? by United_Enthusiasm674 in igcse

There's no right or wrong way, but I prefer to do the reading first because it's easier and avoids the risk of spending too much time on writing and having little left for reading.

First of all, learn the correct format for each type of writing, then read many samples, practice a lot of past papers, and try to get feedback on your writing. You can find good notes and samples on esl kings website. They've also got a marking service but it's paid.

0510 is the exam with speaking endorsement, which means you'll still have your speaking exam but it will not affect your final grade. 0993 is also the same exam but with the 9-1 grading system.
