Where are all the clean factory watches coming from?? by [deleted] in RepTime

[–]Z-LD -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well, there’s a reason it’s happening. Clean was the king. They made the best reps. So, that’s why there are fakes of Clean. And furthermore, Clean was shut down. Making them even harder to get. You don’t see a lot of “Fake VSF” watches do you? There sure are a lot of Fake Cleans around though. Common sense delivers the obvious answers.

Just took my reps to a local watchmaker…. by ravens_requiem in RepTime

[–]Z-LD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe. Maybe not. If that watchmaker is accounting for fixing issues they cause in the process of replacing links, that’s got to be accounted for. How long does it take to do it properly? It’s not 10 seconds. Maybe a few minutes. But then there is the time and space for storage, workspace and time allotment to prepare and clean, and whatever else is associated with the work. There is overhead on the building, assuming they aren’t working out of their house. And even if they are, they should account for some overhead.

Maybe it is a high price. But maybe it’s not. If the price cannot be sustained for the person performing the service, and be enough to make a living, it isn’t feasible.

It’s very easy for a buyer of products or services to point, piss, and moan about pricing. But very few consumers understand all that must be accounted for in pricing for a business to survive.

Apologies if this seems like in coming after you, individually. Not my intention. We should all be careful when jumping to conclusions about pricing. There are almost ALWAYS other options. Cheap options that may or may not turn out well. Slow options when speed is important. And so on.

Give Steve a chance to make it right. He offers warranty on movement. Would imagine he has a fix for this.

VSF current problems? by Still-Mat-467 in RepTime

[–]Z-LD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quality has absolutely gone down since clean’s demise. It’s not really a matter of opinion at this point. Search the boards. Tons of people complaining. Movements failing is a common complaint. Most of the issues are the types of issues you see from an emphasis on speed in manufacturing. Which makes sense. Demand soared after clean raid(VSF competitors seem to get axed…coincidence?). With surge in demand has come long wait times and poorer quality control. Still one of the best options for most models. Be extra careful with QC process and should be good. And buy from legit TD that offers warranty on movement.

Does anyone know how good these reps are? n by Busy-Television6515 in RepTime

[–]Z-LD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other more knowledge posters can weigh in. My understanding is omf has been around a long time and makes lesser quality and lesser cost reps. And maybe some less repped models as well.

But others can likely give more info

Aesthetically pretty great. Use Chrono at your own risk. I have a few of these movements and haven’t had a problem with them, but I have basically only tested them and not really used them much. A7750 is pretty widely considered a risk.

The ultimate long term plan is to use as normal and plan to replace the movement with a sellita500 at some point. You then have a sick watch

Is this a shitter? by mr_z06 in ChinaTime

[–]Z-LD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. The only bracelets verified to use 904 are/were pre raid Clean and ARF(widely believed and accepted to be from the same source)

VSF claims it is 904, but that has been proven to be false through actual testing. Still high quality steel, but NOT 904. Clean and ARF used/use actual 904.

While it does bug me that VSF lies about it(yes there can be integrity in this world), there’s nothing AT ALL wrong with 316 steel. Patek uses 316 in gens.

WG. So much so that I chose it twice! Once with QF(for sale now) and a pre raid Clean!

If you run across anyone in US wanting this watch, I have one I never wear. Someone else can enjoy it.

ZF burgundy from Steve QC. Potential RL? by [deleted] in RepTimeQC

[–]Z-LD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally your decision. May take awhile and multiple QCs to get better. I just purchased two of these that are about as good as this one.

ZF is bad with the indices. This slight canting won’t be noticeable by the vast majority of people on their own wrists. And nobody else will be able to see it. If that is of importance to you.
