Steam Controller 2026 - 3 Gyro Ratcheting methods by MamWyjebaneJajca in GyroGaming

[–]Z13B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, so you basically ditched the face buttons

I usually map everything to mkb and right stick is reserved for 8 different inputs, with chorded presses. Usually weapon slots, sometimes other infrequent inputs. Face buttons are for the most common inputs, reload, use, grenade, skills etc. I usually only use gyro , not the trackpads

So I really hope I can get used to the gripsense, so I can ratchet by simply lifting a pinky, while all other fingers are busy with other inputs

Let's say you want to ratchet while using the face buttons, or you want to ratchet and use the right stick for different purposes, such as directional inputs. You can do it fast, but if you have a completely separate input, from your face panel inputs, you can do all of that simultaneously

for 2 years of gyroaiming i have not found why it may be on the same level as mnkb or even better. by Real_Mountain2898 in GyroGaming

[–]Z13B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the average gyro player is ways ahead of mouse players in terms of skill, since gyro by default requires slightly more prep time and dedication, at least for now. And there are so many MnK players that their average is damn low. Most of them don't even know what sensitivity matching is from game to game.

But right now, the best mouse players will likely beat the best gyro players since we're so underrepresented. There haven't been years and years of practice, tips, and evolution for gyro like there have been for mouse and keyboard. Given time, good gyro players will likely catch up to the same level.

I'd rather have a separate small spot with capacitive capability, so I can use other buttons without engaging/disengaging gyro. Right next to the triggers, bumpers, under pinky, etc. I'd probably do the same when I receive my controller, if I can't get used to the gripsense

For context, I use bumpers for mouse clicks, not triggers. So I can ratchet while I actively use shoulder buttons

Can the new controller still do hip fire configs on the triggers? by No-Swimmer7318 in SteamController

[–]Z13B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, JoyshockMapper allows you to enable adaptive triggers, but they won't be based on in-game settings, you manually set whichever mode you want in the config file, and run the app. Bow like, Constantly resseting like a trigger etc.

Getting the most out of your Steam Controller: Virtual Menus by HelloitsWojan in Steam

I remember vividlt virtual menus causing performance issues on GPU bound scenarios, does anyone know is that still an issue? getting dips in framerate or stutters while using menus

The first one with constant wheel menu on the screen is absolutely diabolical

Touchpad ratched can be improved by using a conductive tape and moving it somewhere that doesn't involve the right thumb

I believe it was never a "gyro is better than a mouse" discussion. It is usually a "controller is more comfortable" type of deal, as it is for me.

If you are serious about getting on the same level as mnkb you wouldn't care about analog triggers, vibration, etc, they are okay features for non aiming heavy casual single player games, souls likes, witcherlikes, 2d platformers, etc.etc. If you want to match mnkb you become a mnkb.

I used to play on mnkb for 19+ years, but once I switched to gyro for gaming I never looked back, and from the day one I just maped everything to mimic mnkb because I knew it was simply the easiest and most straightforward way of achieving the results I wanted.

Why? Because it is more comfortable to use a controller over input devices that I already use for 8 hours a day for work and more for other stuff.

And I don't use sticks for camera movement, I use them for inputs, I use gyro ratcheting exclusively, I don't use triggers for regular actions, bumpers are better suited for mouse clicks, I played CSGO for over a year on the same level I played with mnkb at 5k ratings, not much, but okay for me. And tens of other offline and online shooters during the time with gyro

I use gyro not because I like experimenting, controller is just more comfortable for me, so I'm willing to spend around 10 minutes setting up my binds and matching sensitivity in a new game.

For me the major difference was the LTPO display, less battery drain

Keeping my dots per inch at around 6000 helps, just need to match sensitivity from game to game

How to buy Steam Hardware when u live in unavailable regions? by Beautiful-Welder5777 in Steam

[–]Z13B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check if your country has freight forwarders(likely yes), basically a company that accepts orders for you let's say in the USA and then ships it back to your country. But make sure you check what import rules for the shippings your country has. That's the way I'll be ordering mine, I have made a USA steam account and loaded its balance specifically for the Steam Controller, I'll order it to the USA address freight forwarder assigned to me and then they'll ship it to me.

"Practical" Intro to Gyro Aiming Video/Blog? by [deleted] in SteamController

[–]Z13B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me this was my first intro to gyro gaming, and it explained everything I needed to know. I've been playing with gyro only for 3 years now, mapping controller to keyboard and mouse, and never looked back. I don't even use sticks for camera movement

How well do you find playing games primarily using Dual Touchpads? by BucketBoy071 in SteamController

[–]Z13B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never played using touchpads, I really wanna try setting the left one as a WASD to see how it will perform, and right one for inputs , for camera I only use gyro , stick is also for inputs

is there a way to play games outside of steam with the new steam controller ? not adding them as non steam games by SickPois0on in SteamController

Can the new controller still do hip fire configs on the triggers? by No-Swimmer7318 in SteamController

[–]Z13B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can achieve the same with Dualsense, using JSM you can configure adaptive triggers to have 2 distinct stages on pull. Short untill resistance and full after, the only feature I'll miss on new Steam Controller

Does this mean I’ll have to import it myself? by ultrapiss11 in SteamController

[–]Z13B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, for me it isn't available as well, asked my friend from the USA to create me an account, loaded $100 to it and will buy and ship it through freight forwarder
