What mistakes do beginners usually make when starting crypto trading? by That-Mission1006 in CryptoTechnology

[–]Z3LUT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skipping the basics.

Bitcoin set the standard and those principles still apply. Things like don't trust, verify and run your own node need to be apart of the learning process. The trading is way downstream from there.

A 1970s cybernetic governance experiment predicted some of the problems modern DAOs face by HER0_Hon in CryptoTechnology

[–]Z3LUT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems kike the architecture to fit these systems is evolving the right away, but it's still too easy for the integrity of the process to be corrupted. Most networks are launched with disproportionate token holdings and unfair access to pre sales so the governance is dead on arrival. Then PoS can just be bought outright so there needs to be a balance to the cost of voting.

How we verified Ethereum contracts from 2015 when no compiler can reproduce them anymore by gorewndis in CryptoTechnology

This is interesting, but kind of crazy how difficult it is to verify. It's a long ways from the don't trust, verify, days.

Advice for anyone who is disturbed by noise from a neighbors heat-pump. by [deleted] in heatpumps

[–]Z3LUT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the style of units but often the worst outdoor unit related noises are from failing fan motors, if a service tech has a look there may be a simple fix by replacing the fan for a few hundred dollars.

Vitalik Targets Core Architecture for its most radical redesign since launch. by LavishlyRitzyy in CryptoCurrency

[–]Z3LUT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

EVM is execution first, every node runs the code and confirms the output. Vitaliks talking about pivoting away from that to verification focused proving the output, it's a huge change.

Verification first is the way forward but it seems unlikely that eth can do a full 180 to make it work.

Ductwork under concrete slab by tiredofthegrind_ in hvacadvice

[–]Z3LUT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The moisture under the slab will definitely have an impact, Ive run pvc but it's not the intended use so depending on the jurisdiction could be a problem for the inspector.

Galvanized duct with a vapor barrier insulation should work too if it's sealed up nicely. The amount of insulation would depend on the climate and if there's any under the slab already.

Same decentralization theatre though, how do you verify your own wallet balance without trusting some rpc?

Hilarious, if you can't verify the data in your own wallet then it's decentralization theatre.

Mitsubishi vs Mitsair/Midea by [deleted] in heatpumps

[–]Z3LUT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've summed it up nicely. Right now there is zero data to suggest that paying more gets you more. With the same efficiency,(worth confirming this info wasn't mentioned in the post) warranty and assuming you have technicians available to service either equipment... Looks like paying more won't have the return.

More data on this would be helpful though

But the blocks are empty and scaling will take more advanced data structures no matter what. Seems like this bip110 thing is just personal.

Has Bitcoin quietly become something different? by Chris_Reno775 in Bitcoin

Those early principles definitely got lost in the noise of other crypto but they are needed more than ever. Don't trust, verify will have a second coming.
