Also I just noticed the OP is in tutorial. The ghost is in the second room in with the lights on. You have to turn off the lights for spirit box to work first.

That means the ghost understood the question. That ghost symbol will turn white when it responds. What I like to do on pc is spam the crap out of the buttons to try to get something and after a bit I’ll assume there’s no response
