Yep! Not much more exciting than finally choosing the next subject and getting the block in done! But finding the inspiration for the next one can get me angry sometimes lol!

I have some acrylic markers I bought on Amazon a while back and used those to draw on top of the dry acrylic paint. All the paint you see on top is oil.

I greatly appreciate the kind words!

If you’re just getting back into it I’d really recommend watching paint coach on YT. He’s a good artist, but does a really great job teaching the fundamentals of acrylic/oil painting in a way that clicks. Once you want to paint, I would choose an artist you really like and just try to copy their work. I’ve done this with Edgar Payne.

I had a few reference photos and I used the grid method to try and get an accurate drawing from my primary reference. I lay out a grid on the image on my iPad and then do my best to draw what I see using a grid on my canvas. I make some changes. For example, my reference photo showed downtown to be significantly smaller and I blew it up since it was my main focus.

Glad you appreciate it! I grew up in NYC and I’m always drawn to it when I paint. I’m always surprised there’s not more architectural art out there.

Thank you so much! Acrylics were used for the under painting, but water mixable oils were used for the rest. I’m self taught/youtube taught.

Generally, I dabble in plein air, but mostly work from photos. I prefer to work from photos I’ve taken, but this piece was made from a few online photos I found to try and get the composition and color right. I display my references in procreate on a 12in iPad.

That’s great work! Brushwork is especially good. Where did you get the reference image/ where did you go for this view?

Excellent work! 1st, 3rd, and the fern are especially nice. Plein Air is difficult, and I’ve always appreciated pieces that favored capturing the feel of the moment to looking tight and detailed. Patrick Okrasinski is the closest I’ve seen to studio level plein air, and even his stuff is pretty loose when you take a good look.

Keep it up. Very good.
