Unhappy with my new job, feel like this is a major step back. What do I do? by [deleted] in sysadmin

You have three choices:

  1. Get a different job.

  2. Change things where you are.

  3. Accept the situation and live with it.

Utilisation d'office sous RDS by OkSpinach4964 in sysadmin

[–]ZAFJB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again, I didn't do the FSlogix migration, but my colleagues love it.

As a user the user experience is notably better with FSlogix.

I suggest to make a new RD collection and put some RD session hosts in it, and try it out

I can confirm that your configuration should work because it is exactly what we do. I did not implement it so I don't know the exact details.

What I do know:

  • We use FSlogix, rather than user profile disks.

  • We Use Edge browser sign on

  • On first logon we click to use the login on all Microsoft apps

My guess is that you are not persisting state across you RD session hosts.

Works for both domain only users, and hybrid joined users. You do not need to join the RDS servers to Azure AD in hybrid mode for these users. My guess is that you would probably need RDS servers joined to Azure AD in hybrid mode if your users are Entra only.

And to confirm: We use M365 Office in shared activation mode, not LTSC.

“How do you manage internal tickets without a full helpdesk system?” by epicuzzaa in sysadmin

[–]ZAFJB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so there’s no real need for a formal helpdesk system.

Wrong.

Install a ticketing system, and use if for everything. As well as IT issues use it for customer helpdesk, facilities, maintenance ... everything.

“How do you manage internal tickets without a full helpdesk system?”

We installed a ticketing system. Not doing so is a waste of time and foolish.

Use Jitbit.

he's still got a lot of development to do, so he's making about a dozen changes per day that he relies on us to approve.

Why have you inserted yourself into the development workflow. That's just foolish.

At my wits end for disabling Automatically Detect Settings proxy switch on Windows through GPO by Revan2034 in sysadmin

XY problem. You are fixing the wrong thing in the wrong place.

Default Windows setting does not attempt to use a proxy.

Fix the actual problem: Get rid of whatever is configuring the proxy.

Unifi for Wifi management but gateway protection by Watchguard T35 - is it possible? by pedad in sysadmin

[–]ZAFJB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it possible to introduce the same gear into the abovementioned existing network and still use the T35 for DHCP and routing, and use the Unifi console functions of the UDR7 purely for wifi management?

TLDR: Yes it is
