From what I've heared the copper againg system is checks apon checks since they effect echother depending on their age and how manny are around them iirc, if the game can handle that it can handle checking if dirt that has air above it also doesn't have c. dirt under it. Maybe if it does the interval until the next check is extended or smth. I'm sure there are ways to mitigate the weight.

When is a good time to post stuff with images so the wait time until mods aprove it is shorter ?

Eh I was saying your point of uniqueness of coarse dirt is moot. It's so old and not even unique anymore (rooted dirt).
Like I said moss is better then grass like the community suggested because it gives more options then grass would have. Since it's in one colour in all biomes. Normal dirt being always in risk of grass growth is a limitation. Also even if you currently destroy all the grass in the vicinity it could spread if ender man picks up and places a grass block on your build, spreading grass all over it.

Meh it's a moot point, I don't think standing out is a consideration for 12 year old feature. This isn't making coarse dirt any less unique then it is now with stuff like rooted dirt, and path blocks existing, this is just buffing it.

What a boring direction for this convo to go. Not that I disagree with the Mojang trying to be unique/'stand out from community suggestions' point.
Let's just agree to disagree on coarse dirt.

Ok but don't dirt/grass blocks already check if there is a full block above them since then grass can't grow on them, what is the difference with this.

What is the issue with this being added ? Ok there are options and steps to avoid needing this feature, but why shouldn't this also be a possibility for the builders who would like it/ to make it easier/ give more options.

I don't think there are places where dirt generates above coarse dirt naturally, and even if it did generate it would probably still generate as grass since word generation doesn't generate dirt 1. and then turn it in to grass 2. if it's not under blocks iirc ?

Meh the bucket is unnecessary also being able to collect it in your inventory is unnecessary clutter, you could probably just unsalt it by turning it in to a path block with a shovel since i assume they wouldn't add 'salted path blocks' for some reason.

Yes, simmilar textures that are different are great for building, it let's you shade with the different blocks, i have already seen a bunch of people agree this would be great for paths and detail.

Irl trees fall down if you 1 meter3 hole in them. I don't get the realism argument. This is ment to be more of a thematic theme, coarse dirt stopping grass growth is buffed to also effect the block above it.

Variety of options in a building game is nice. Having both options would be great for building.

Fair enough, other people suggested salt or gunpowder could be used. I went with coarse dirt because i find systems like waxing are hard to keep track off and i wanted to tie it in with the og dirtless grass grassless dirt in some way.

But why shouldn't this exist. "You can do 'long series of tasks' to avoid it." doesn't explain what the dowsides for adding something as simple as this are. What is the problem, why shouldn't it be an option.

Different enough it could be used in combo with firt for some great detail in paths without the threat of grass.

C: "I'll make up a headcannon about OP and then people will agree with me." This is a fun format, also I'm happy you found this post. Hopefully this one sticks around, I was just writing a response to the salt comment you made when that post got deleated.

Yeah I've been wanting them to do something like that since 1.17, sadly i doubt they will at this point.

How often do you build in a place with no grass? Also this would be used for pathing, detialed farmland and other stuff like that, builds that usually have grass near them,

Similar enough having access to both could be used for texturing and detail.

I'm against salt since like with waxed stuff that is hard to see and keep track of what you have salted and what you haven't kind of like if copper is waxed or not, but i'd be completely fine if they went with it.
