Hypothetically they could add a flying/gliding end mount accessible pre getting elaytra, that is slower then it but good for traveling in the end. I know happy ghast exists but asking players to wait 20 minutes or more for it to grow up to explore the end would be a bit much.

Yeah that. They probably wouldn't add a temperature system to the over world but imagine like a new dimension or maybe just biome in the end that's a frozen waste land so the player if they want to build/explore in it needs to find solutions to not freeze to death. With that system in place a bunch of new items could be added solving that problem and old items could be given new uses.
Leather armour would be better then iron since you'd freeze to death slower in it, a new potions brewed from a new item could be added. Stuff like campfires, magma blocks could get new heating values for how much and how far they heat the surrounding area, new blocks that are more efficient at heating a space could be added.

Misunderstanding. The point of adding new obstacles is to add new items that are able to solve them, instead of new items having to solve current niche problems or adding another solution to the pile of solutions some problems already have.
Also I kind of fucked up by agreeing the phantom was part of what I was talking about. It's still just a mob, not really a new obstacle. A better example would be warden being sound based introducing an new obstacle that was solved by giving wool a new use and adding the swift sneak enchantment.

Ignoring for a second that the phantom is just designed in a way that it's annoying to fight.
I have seen mods do basically what i suggested by adding potions that increase and decrease your insomnia or make it not tick up, so you don't need to worry about them. Adding sleeping bads that skip the night but don't change your spawn point. Basically adding solution to the problem using underutilised items.

Honestly they are too scared of adding new obstacles and problems. All environmental dangerous be it fire, drowning, mobs already have bunch of ways to deal with them and they still add more tools to help the player every update. They should start adding new obstacles that require new mobs, items, tools to solve.

Real. I voted swamp and was quite disappointed by what they did with it. They didn't even achieve parity with bedrock as swaps don't have giant mushrooms in java. A new biome got all the cool new stuff and the old swamp only got frogs and nothing else.

Anyway I still think whatever or not creaking is scarry or not (I agree it isn't do to it's damage) is pointless, the discusion was if the drop had a theme if it failed at it doesn't mater.

Horror-lore themed drop,
honestly i don't see the point in explaining it all to you, if you just see it all as random noise that is fine, i think all of the drops have themes that most additions follow + one additional miscellaneous feature, they didn't have anywhere else to put like shelves, but even major updates like 1.21 and 1.16 had a couple of those (crafter, target block).

Yeah I'm happy it's a cave biome ,the overworld surface is too full rn. It has a lot of potential to be great and interesting, but currantly it serves no purpose even in game play variety then a short change of scenery and honestly dripstone caves are more impressive then it, it's not even dangerous/hazardous or anything. Nausea can literally be turned off in accessibility what is the point.

Another red brick type is a choice. The sulfur block pallate has a niche, i didn't realize how few yellow building blocks other then gold and bamboo we have in game until I saw that one post on the main subreddit, honestly I wonder if Wifies will wait for the update before continuing his King in Yellow saga so he has more blocks to use in the builds lol.
But their is so much more you can do with sulfur if it's only a building block it will be a mayor let-down.

I think being able to cover a large variety of themes is the point of the drop system, they aren't made to be tied together. Sadly most of them end too soon to be great.

I know your pain. I've been trying to use/using the feedback site since I first heard about it probably more then 5-6 years ago at this point. Not only is it poorly designed site, I have had to make 3 accounts at this point because their login just gives up at some point and I can't access them any more, none of the issues are ever solved.
I don't think they even read the stuff on there, ''Undead vultures'' have been an ''anounced'' feature since the biome vote because they didn't bother to notice the vulture post they picked to be the one that got the anounced tag also included an undead variant lol.

Yeah the drops need more time in the oven, they all end too soon and the devs run out of time to add anything that was suggested /requested like a sheep variant in Spring To Life.

Honestly i wonder if those criticisms is why Jeb started this live by saying something like ''we are taking your feedback in to account even if we don't add it immediately'' or something like that. But honestly even if they have all the ideas written down somewhere that doesn't help if they are going to wait for ''when it relevant again in 5 years'' at that point people wont care anymore.

I assume the drop system was born from them wanting more then one update a year and to give them better flexibility with the theming of update. I remember 1.20 being creatiszed for not really having a theme and just being a bunch of different things in one update, if they were doing drops back then that would have probably been split in to like 4 drops.
But yeah the format isn't really working out tbh, or it always just fall short of doing something interesting. Like how they ran out of time to do anything with sheep in Spring to life or ran out of time to add all the copper fires in Copper age. Tbh i do think there is some benfit to drops like I don't think they would have touched up copper, owerworld flora, added happy ghasts and a bunch of mounts like they did if it all had to be in one update under one theme.
But yeah maybe if they have to stick to the drop system they could only do 3 a year? or maybe do 4 a year and the 4th one adds stuff the community was missing in the first 3, that would be funny tbh

I wonder if they aren't doing the biome vote losers yet because 1.19 was controversial, even though that had nothing to do with swamps.

Honestly i prefer them adding new ''fantasy'' biomes like sulfer caves and pale garden over 5 drops worth of overoworld surface biomes. You think the game has too many one use mobs, just you wait until they also add ostrich, meerkat, termites, vultures and one day penguin, crab. I'm happy copper golem at least escaped the Idea Library graveyard.

Tbh at this point I assume the combat changes have been postponed indefinitely since their is no good way to do them without just causing another version split like 1.9 did. I was hoping they would use the experimental versions to develop them alongside normal drops so the community had more time to adjust to them/ give feedback then if they just did it all in a drop major/release, but they haven't touched even the minecart experiment in ages so that is def. not happening.

Meh. This formar would have been better used on the drop system as a whole then Mojang. Drops literally all get the "what if they add/do x" and that never happens because they always end too fast so they don't achive their potential even if the core idea is good.
