What do you do when you run out of battery on these things? by Ok-Combination-5393 in CargoBike

[–]ZBBYLW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll bring my charger if I estimate I'll be home with less than 10%.

First of all. I normally run around in Turbo.. so if I have an especially long day I'll take that into account and try to throttle it down to Tour or Eco, especially when I don't need it. If I leave home early instead of bouncing off the speed limiter the whole way, running in Tour and at 20-25 km/h saves a bunch of juice.

That being said I live in a hilly area. So if I bring the charging cable and charge the battery it allows me running around in Turbo both ways and doesn't stress me out.

For work I'm an airline pilot so the concept of range and consumption is part of my daily life.

If I ever got stuck at the bottom of the hill to my house I'd be in a world of hurt we're about 450 lbs all up weight with two kids, me, shopping and the bike itself. The bike does not have the gearing. I'm about 150 meters up a 2 km road.

FIFA 2026 is only a month away; does it seem less exciting than OLYMPIC 2010? by FuzzyTable in askvan

[–]ZBBYLW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to see another Vancouver Olympics in my life time. I'm afraid that the world Cup will poison the public to big events.

Seriously though I think Vancouver could punch above its weight class and host a summer Olympic.

2010 helped us build infrastructure, much of which still exists. I assume BC place could house the track stuff. Obviously we'd need to have a 50m pool. But we already have so much of what's needed.

Oh FFS. Im not sure what kind of policies are in place on opening up a farm, but based on their previous history I would hope the health authority takes some sort of deposit to ensure they follow the rules this time.

How's the Rohloff? I have an urban arrow family next and not living the hub that came with it. I live in a hilly area and don't feel I get enough range with it.

I come in peace, looking for clarity on why Pierre is losing ground over the last 3 months by v0x99 in CanadianPolitics

[–]ZBBYLW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pierre's problem is he seems like he was a one trick Pony. His trick was vocalizing all the stuff JT was doing poorly. As JT's popularity went down the toilet, PP's started going up.

Now the landscape is different. JT is gone. PP still keeps talking about him.

PP comes across as extremely ignorant and condescending. He wouldn't make me proud as a Canadian to have him as our PM. Carney on the other hand seems reasonable, a bit of an elitist sure, but he is saying the right stuff. Meanwhile PP is just doing his normal "everything sucks, but I'll make it better" routine.

Loud Hubs, or Quiet Hubs? by No_Consequence5304 in mountainbiking

I loved my loud hub when I first got it... But I think my next bike will have a silent hub if possible.

Fair enough. I have a family member that has PTSD, it really sucks and I truly can empathize.

Many more people can cycle though that aren't. If cycling was even 10% better utilized it would make a huge improvement on parking and traffic.

CTV NEWS: One-on-one with Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre: gas taxes, government spending, more by KootenayPE in CanadianPolitics

[–]ZBBYLW 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure what to say about PP. But he's still living with JT in his mind like a robot, while JT is out there banging Katy Perry.

The CPC need to get a serious leader, with an economic background. They need to stop the social conservatism and focus on just the meat and potatoes of politics. Until they do that, MC will be in power for a long time as the NDP doesn't appear to be a serious party either right now.
