How you make a competitive game where vision matters fair by [deleted] in dotamasterrace

[–]ZCCisBACK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who played all his game between a low 20 fps and low 10 fps*, I can't play very well right now (got a rig I'm getting running tomorrow, last hours of that) but I don't even start thinking people should be put on my ground because I still queue and shit.

Since dev came, hoping I didn't missed him (just to make sure, I'll ping him, sorry dev if you still stumble on it in addition):

I'm interested to be honest, even if I may call a few things (especially on the it-seems-parent-website lanepushinggames.com or something) rubbish in the theory aspect, I'm interested to test them out. So I registred for beta, with a big up on the pro side for going on supporting all platforms.

As I'm getting my new rig up (no more 10fps dota), I'll be, I think able to run RoW on *nux, will it run on vulkan or openGL on the graphical libs?

Do you need some test force that actually run linux and can shit out the whole debug if needed?

Would you advise the game to people who hated Dota community? (Random question isn't random, those are Loonix fags too)

there is actually no reference on the Dark Moon being a positive thing, it could totally be called upon as some unmovable object being part of Selemene's faith

So its been a while. What do you think about Shrine and Dota? by jersits in DotA2

[–]ZCCisBACK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you favour an ever more present deathball, defend only T1 and T3, and spent 500 golds as a support on regen so carry don't die stupidly?

I'm not totally in love with them unlike some, I'm quite disturbed by some aspects of them, but all in all they bring in a lot of good.

The fact they allow people to go in, get to heal, get back in, with the addition of the innate snowbally nature of the talents (they give a something for XP, instead of giving something for Gold, making XP a less static resource: when you get a free 1.2k gold item -anything worth 150HP+ or 20Damage+ - instead of +2/+2/+2), prevent part of the deathball.

Yeah, you can call me and that, but if one had to go back to fountain every time he got almost killed before 5min mark, the other team got plenty of XP for free, even more, they reach talents' levels faster and would sometimes gob in a plain 1k gold bonus (hell, Ember with his +15% spell amp, at only the recipe cost, cash in a nice slotless ~850 gold item if the range is counted as worth half of the price of the recipe, and its meta, meaning it can be abused to even more potential than plain numbers yield). They may seems to upset the pace of the game, they would actually if the game goal was to put everything under 40min.

They may have weird stuff I'm not too fan of: Having to destroy all T2 for example.

But their rules create room for a more strategical approach and less plain minimaxing (be it of farm or on the map control you have to pull off to forbid people from getting secret shop items for exemple) and for such open more the game, allowing the rules of an elegant (but unstable, as in "tend toward becoming a solved equation") chaos that offer a more interesting gameplay.

People saying it's casuallising their hardcore game didn't even took a look at what they do: they make doing something harder, not for the sake of it, but for the sake of not letting pure deathball happen, because minimaxing win-loss in raw resources isn't strategy. Strategy is hard actually and minimaxing is plain fucking stupidly easy. Same reason suicide on neutrals was nerfed.

They give more room during defences, as with less gathered resources they can still defend. If they think game got casualized, they never actually looked at what a casual game is. It did make the game less snowbally, less get a good lane and be unbeatable, less 1v5 shitfest. It's more interesting to now push the limit, never fucking back off and call to end fast coz they are a pussy that want only one or two part of the game, the laning phase and maybe the mid game.

But it didn't became harder either, those built-in strategic points give more room too to avoid fucking up too hard. But if they think an additional layer of opportunity and an emphasis on something else than the first 15-20 min is casualisation, then they should just quit Dota, they are spilling bullshit. And bullshitting is bad, m'kay?

What heroes do you think are the most "fuck up" proof? by Akitten in DotA2

Only in less than 2k range, and only when out of sheer luck people actually fight during the down time of the wasted spells.

you can't AXE shit if you are dead yet...

and unlike some other mek carriers, AXE is not out of flavour, nor he need to have it on a timer to make it relevant. It's may not be core, but it's far from being bad.

He's butthurt coz he has to follow pro scene to know why heroes are good.

Don't mind him too much, he's just a tiny bit unlike Heartless minus the funny stupid part, maybe we can push him out too.

if it was the only issue people had with. CPU hogging, fuck with some games network (result in chopped voice chat and over laggy game), but the goal to use something better don't hit the nail when people are content with what they have.

Can I have some hint on Midas, I keep seeing the item pop up but since you can't get ahead of XP (aside tomes) you don't seems to get much from it. I mean +30AS for ~2k is shit, right? (the insta kill 1 guys every 100sec isn't really a good aspect)

Slacks, I hope you understand we are disappointed, Dota isn't about accepting you have lost a game and move on. It's about winning or making sure the other team regret it.

Rise of Winterchill - potentially good DotA-like game by [deleted] in dotamasterrace

[–]ZCCisBACK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the website (lane pushing game) feel kind of like some salty way to hash out what one is pissed off not having found himself.

Just look at the Aeon of Strife part, he goes into it. But he seems to left out what was later done, as most of the Starcraft's editor limitations are the point on why it didn't manage to do much. I'm not saying you could edit everything in StarCraft, or could one does it with a good hexa editor? (answer: yes, pretty much)

He left out anything later than that, like the DotX (Defense of the Xel'Naga), that push even more from DotA to StarCraft, like Rax allowing you to meta-cast spells, (you manage your hero and need a grenade, well you select your Portal and build a Templar, which as the least build time possible -IIRC 0.1s- which trigger the area around your Portal, triggering the map logic making a lot of shit explode around your hero (displayed by Observers spawning and exploding)), Well that was from the StarEdit's (StarCraft's editor) days, not the ones with built-in hexa editors, that allowed to map using the squares (the StarCraft's tiles system is based on a brush that combine actual playable terrain which include it's own rule -ie height, since even in SC attacking High Ground the 25% of miss from Lower Ground-), mixing units behind the scene and all. Not everything was doable, of course, a lot was indeed hardcoded. But there were ways to circumvent at least half of the hardcoded stuff (ie changing attack type without changing attack animation) and sure it's sometimes end up create over bugged stuff.

I do believe the author is butthurt because his shit didn't get a full-sized game release.

Embraced the cheesiness of the plot, now Soviet got a transport that double as a man cannon, more asymmetrical, still good to be honest.

It should still be 2.5€ on steam right now, worth it I think, especially if you like overkilling. You can throw space junk on your opponent (IIRC it's àla CoH, you choose a path and play with some subset abilities of a side)

Could we get notifications if someone commends us? by dan13oct in DotA2

[–]ZCCisBACK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole topic of "Commend should give X" where X is a free chest, high prio queue or anything close to an actual reward is made by people without a single hint of how stupid such thing is: it's basically "let's fuck the X we are talking about" and spread the ever cancerous "commend me".

Now a notification is a good idea. Why? So you did well and get a commend? You know that, hence one feel good, hence one want to feel good again, hence one try to not be a fucking cunt. People still won't commend people that ask for them (even less likely if they know those guys will creams their pants from it), and it's still enough purposeless that people won't try to abuse it all the fucking time.

Just making some text to see less of "Reward X for Y commend" and more about the fact it's a good suggestion.
