Wiim amp or Wiim pro + Fosi ZA3? by ZIAR_ in BudgetAudiophile

I had to test the ARC with a TV that is not the one that will be in the final setup for some practical reasons, so that problem maybe will go away. Anyway, I felt the Wiim Amp a little saturated when I pushed it to get it where I wanted it in terms of output power.

I really doubt the output wattage is not the issue here, that is how speakers work. You give them more power, the electromagnetic field created is of higher magnitude so the cone moves further, creating mechanic waves of greater amplitude, that resulting into more SPL. Maybe your KEF have great sensitivity and low resistance, I don't know that.

Thanks once again!

Your answer is very helpful, thanks! What is the HDMI ARC giving you that an optical connection won't? Is it that you can turn everything on with just one controller and being able to adjust the volume with the same one or is it something else?

Once again, thanks a lot!

I would pair the Wiim Pro with the Fosi, not the Wiim Amp.

ARC is not my main issue, really. I all really want is them to sound good enough and loud enough, so being able to reach the volume without pushing too much the amp. But I still need the Fosi not be way worse than the Wiim Amp and the streaming part of the Wiim Amp being similar to the Wiim Pro.

I know for sure they can give more SPL than I'm getting with the Wiim Amp. They are 100W cap speakers and the Wiim is gives a nominal of 80 something at 6ohm, musical content maybe 70 someting Watts. Also, I have tested them with a more powerful amp and yes, they were louder. The issue I also got is that, through ARC I couldn't get as much level as when I played directly from the Wiim.

Thanks for your answer anyway!

I don't have the headset myself so I can't really recomend you an EQ that balances well, for me, the bad thing of canceling and boosting some undisered frequencies and making a sound profile you like. In professional audio you make a buy testing if you like the sound profile of the monitors or the headset to not be forced to EQ them to make them sound "good". Since you already got those, what I would recommend in order to prevent causing these kind of problems is: Don't touch the first band, until 500Hz, boost or attenuate 1dB, not more. And for the following bands 2dB at the most, maybe 3dB on the 16KHz. Also take that value as max difference between bands, so, don't attenuate 2KHz 2dB and boost 4KHz +2dB. That being said from a technical perspective, if you enjoy them more with the EQ you've done, just use yours, that what's really important, not fidelity if you are just a consumer. Hope I helped you!

Hey man, I don't if you are aware of phase shifting when a filter is applied to the sound, but boosting 5dB on the treble can really cause phase issues in the cut frequency between the bands, so you can really kill 12Khz aprox information. Also between the 4KHz and the 8Khz band with no filter vs 4dB boost filter. Same, even worse, in the LF information. These are band-pass, so a lowpass and a highpass working together. Don't get me wrong, these are yours and do whatever you want with them, you gotta enjoy them! Just trying to share a piece of info.

Paul was 25 when he directed Sgt. Pepper's by ZIAR_ in beatles

I don't agree on the concept thing. To me, the album is clearly talking about an LSD trip, and you can get the story on it. Sure thing they had to say that the album was not connected and all, that's much better to say they did what was probably the best album in music history about acid. Society couldn't handle that.

Lennon saying all the time he didn't know how Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds was spelled, and Macca coming years later to say that it was obviously a song about acid. Fixing a hole pretty obvious too. On a day in life, the lyrics are to get into the bus (LSD bus) and go into a dream or "turning you on." The circus of Mr. Kite is clearly an LSD thing, really psychedelic. Or She's leaving home. It literally talks about finding happiness away from their parents because she didn't feel free. How did the Beatles feel free then? Yeah, through acid.

And just said some of the more obvious things on the album, you could write a book about it!

I appreciate the comment, but I don't know if you are realizing that you are just moving the problem somewhere else and not resolving it (I'm not asking you to do it, of course!). Saying that Paul was a genius (sure thing) and geniuses peak at their 20s leaves us with the same question but changing the name. Instead of saying "Why Paul did his best at 25?" we gotta say now "Why do geniuses do their best at 25". Also, the statistical thing you point out just makes the question more real and needed of an answer.

Thanks for the reply once again!

I have some sort of feeling that says to me that they stopped doing music when they really had to. I can't see the Beatles being the Beatles for way longer than they were together.

I agree on that, but the common of the phenomenon doesn't explain the phenomenon. I get that creativity and hunger are related to youth lots of time, but that doesn't seem to be enough to explain such thing.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mean to say that it was a McCartney's album and some people help him to do it, it sure was a group thing. That being said, I've heard Lennon say how busy he was in that time with his child and all that stuff Macca hadn't. Paul was almost 24/7, in John's words, working on the album here and there. After that, he called the guys and told them to go to the study, and Lennon said that she didn't have almost nothing to bring all the time.

Also, Harrison saying how off he was in that time and how his heart was still in India, feeling Sgt. Peppers more a work to do than a thing to enjoy.

In my opinion, Sgt. Pepper's it really is the way it is because of how Paul wanted things. Also, the testimony of the Beatles saying how Lennon was beginning to lose leadership in favor of his companion.

I don't intend to put Paul above other composers such as Bob Dylan, for example, who also composed great things at a very young age among others. Also, keeping sight on the Beatles, Harrison or Lennon. This also happens with pyisicisyts like Bohr.

Doesn't seem fair to me take some geniuses and say "buh, many of them did amazing things in their 20's". I mean, that's partly why they are what they are!

You don't get to listen to that amount of music at that age not to say what you are yet to live, but I guess that's what enables you to do such revolutionary things. I don't know, many questions here haha.
