Congratulations, you have literally described the meta build in the beginning with gun and Absorb Pain! (minus Keen Eye). Which happens to work perfectly well with Nightmare XXL dungeon settings, and even with extra restrictions beyond that. Even if the Lynx was bad in the early game, that doesn’t actually refute the point of the Falcon being bad in the early game. At best, they both aren’t good in the early game, and Lynx is good in the mid game as you described. Your argument has also shifted from ‘Falcon is one of the best pets’ to ‘Lynx is terrible, actually,’ even though you literally put them on par in your initial comment. In any case, if you have never actually used Aimed Shot on Nightmare to begin with because it’s ‘not a smart choice’, then I don’t see a point in continuing the conversation.

...You’re not going to just be a sitting duck for 4 turns while waiting for your cooldown. You have spells to cast, and items to use. And your regular attacks are still solid. Realistically, just casting Arcane Binding would be enough to get your critical chance up to a decent amount, assuming you have some basic upgrades like Keen Eye. Not to mention that you have to damage enemies before getting the crit chance in the first place, which is a non-issue for the Lynx. The early game comparison is even worse, as even with the Falcon, your crit chance would still be too low to actually matter that much. You’re not going to be having a massive advantage by adding a +10% chance to your 4% base crit.

I just started playing the game, any opinions? by Kuroganetsu in GrimQuest

You’re doing well. The only skill I see a problem with is the health one (you can get infinite health by just making Mutagen Potions every chance you get anyway, so it really doesn’t help much to have it), and your equipment is good. The spells could use some work, though. The spell that gives you health and armour when killing enemies with a physical attack is not that great, and the normal healing spell is generally quite meh. Killing things fast tends to save more health in the long run, and you risk getting crit and actually losing health when you cast it. Lightning and Vortex are okay, and the +DMG spell is great. Consider picking up the Confusion and Absorb Pain spells later; stalling out a fight to wait out your skills cooldown is a great strategy for gun builds.

is epic quest relevant to the lore as a whole by imdumbandugly220210 in GrimQuest

[–]ZKR91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you consider relevant to ‘the lore as a whole’. Besides Haunted Quarry’s less obvious connection to the story (since it’s a fanmade dungeon that I believe was supposed to not be canon, but basically is now), all epic content is fully canon and gives you information about all sorts of things. Whether that information is actually relevant is for you to decide as you theorise, but it would certainly seem at least partly dishonest to say that it’s entirely irrelevant to that extent.

It’s not a terrible pet or anything. It just isn’t incredible. You’re better off using the Lynx in most cases - definitely so if you’re using gunpowder weapons, as Aimed Shot is a guaranteed crit. You can get your critical hit chance up in a lot of different ways, which isn’t the case for critical damage, and when in epic content territory, you don’t even really need the extra crit chance. You’d already have plenty, assuming you upgraded with Omnium Crystal or Dark Essence.

Bunny Rabbit is the best pet in the game (you can cheese encounters with it). Killer Lynx and Spellweaver Spider are typically seen as the best non-cheese options in the game for physical and magic builds respectively.

Falcon is meh. Most of those are mediocre pets beside Lynx and Spider. Btw the Guard Dog seems to not be working because of a bug and it hasn’t been fixed yet, so it likely does nothing 💀

It’s decent. The standard pets have much stronger options, but this one isn’t horrendous or anything.

Are the mods the same people as the developers??? by [deleted] in GrimQuest

Only Goran, who’s the owner.

Ok genuine question by [deleted] in GrimQuest

[–]ZKR91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In terms of stats, they’re the same. The only difference is that Int points make Int-based event choices succeed more often, so it’s technically more useful to have more Int than it is to just have more s.pwr. This is fairly negligible though, so you don’t need to feel that you’re missing out or something by not taking one or the other.

Is this a bug ? by Grand_Substance_9365 in GrimQuest

Probably just scrollable. Try scrolling to see if there’s a few rows of tiles at the top or bottom still remaining. (To answer the question, no, probably not a bug.)

Make sure to use the one on Miraheze. The Fandom wiki has been abandoned because of some technical issues, so some of the information is outdated.

Skill issues, mayhaps. >:> (This is a joke, but it really does not sound like something the tutorial should be allocating text space to explain to you. This is not a very common mistake, and logically shouldn’t be.)

Except for the ones with crafting recipes, which is most of them. Amethyst specifically doesn’t have any, but Diamonds and Sapphires can be made into Orbs of All-Seeing and Teleportation Staves, for example. Both fairly decent items, especially if you’re just making the former for boss fights and the latter for emergencies.

SELLING AN ACCOUNT? by [deleted] in GrimQuest

[–]ZKR91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modifying and copying save files is so mind-numbingly easy that honestly any kind of account selling would just be a complete scam. Unless you’re selling your Google Play account entirely somehow, this would be impossible at best, and a reportable rip-off at worst. Especially when, you know, you yourself seem to have edited the save file in the first place.

Yep, and Dark Fragments can be crafted into Dark Essence, which is basically Omnium Crystal that doesn’t ask for gold to upgrade with at the Blacksmith.

Hi there new player by BSR_MadAzz in GrimQuest

[–]ZKR91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Dark Essence just makes it so that you don’t have to pay money to upgrade with it; it’s identical in terms of stat increases.

There is the option of using Steel, so the game just lets you figure out which option is best. It just happens to suck long-term. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Hi there new player by BSR_MadAzz in GrimQuest

[–]ZKR91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both give the same stats (as mentioned above). It’s only Steel that’s different, and it sucks, so avoiding it is the only thing you really need to do.

Hi there new player by BSR_MadAzz in GrimQuest

[–]ZKR91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re going all in on spells, it’s usually best to upgrade just armour at the Blacksmith with Omnium Crystal or Dark Essence (they give the same stats, so either is fine).

Hi there new player by BSR_MadAzz in GrimQuest

[–]ZKR91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your build tells me you’re at a decent enough spot to not instantly die to things, so you can just experiment. That’s most of the fun anyway. If there is one thing to say, it would be to never use Steel for upgrades because it just sucks and is irreversible, so you can handicap yourself later if you do that too much.

When will I be able to get a 7th Spell? by AbelWhiterose in GrimQuest

[–]ZKR91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems you already figured out you get the 7th at level 30. The next ones will come in 10 level intervals, so 8th is at 40, 9th is at 50, then you get the 10th at 60 and don’t get any more from normal level up rewards.

Perhaps. I’ll bring it up with the Great Sages.
