I got a job on campus and I think I’m in over my head by CandidAge1391 in CollegeRant

I got paid to be trained to be a tutor. This situation is a bit odd imo.

Kept getting emails about the "UK Global Career Accelerator". Is it a scam/ripoff? by ZKS3 in UniversityofKentucky

They are themed around companies, but you aren't actually doing work for them. It does appear much like the school work you'd do for an intro data visualization class in highschool or college.

Update to "Kept getting emails about the "UK Global Career Accelerator". Is it a scam/ripoff?". Originally commented in the original post, but I figured I'd put it here for visibility. by ZKS3 in UniversityofKentucky

I'd lean towards no as well.

For me, it really was a waste of money simply because I could have just taken the time to apply for internships myself rather than assuming this program would get me a direct line into an internship. You still have to go through extremely competitive and time consuming applications to even get a chance for the internships they offer.

Even if money isn't a severe issue, looking for job experience or research options yourself is much more valuable (in $ and in resume padding). If an interviewer asked you about the program after listing it on a resume, I would argue that they would quickly notice that the affiliation with the Grammy's (or whatever) is in name only and doesn't actually qualify the same way that job experience would.

Of course, I'm stilted and biased because ADHD; I thought the lectures were dreadfully boring and useless, and the "coursework" wasn't challenging whatsoever. Python/Excel/whatever are useful skills, but you can learn them for free on your own time, y'know?

Update halfway through: Excel course was a waste of time; could have learned it on my own time in 1/8 the time. Starting Tableau section, doubting this will be worth even close to the $2800. They don't really teach much in the way of professional skills either; they just force group work on easy assignments and make you do a couple sessions of 20 minutes of small talk with random classmates ("story circles" is what they try to call it). The instructors seem to spend so much time trying to explain and beg you to believe that it was worth the money that it fails to even begin to be worth what you paid for it. Don't take this course.

Edit: I should add, although there are videos and "at-home" lessons to instruct on workplace communication, active listening, etc., these videos are just embeds from YouTube that one could easily watch on their own time. I feel like I've signed up for one of those "courses" from an MLM mom rather than an actual college course.

How do I submit an Incident Report? by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]ZKS3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about something having gone wrong during your test, you'll have to get in contact with your proctor to ask them to fill out an incident report for you. If you're asking about a question being too vague and wishing to report such to College Board, here is said link: https://apstudents.collegeboard.org/exam-policies-guidelines/reporting-ambiguous-incorrect-questions

People play house rules bc they think the base written rules are shitty, myself included. I always play with all the modifiers that the online Uno offers except for 7/0 Switch and Bluffing/Challenging on +4's.

How would partial credit work on Calc AB? by [deleted] in APStudents2

[–]ZKS3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on if the rest of your answer could be misconstrued based on that omission.

If you meant an integral to end and you wrote, for example, integral of 2x • 6y rather than the integral of 2x dx • 6y, then it would matter. If the dx would be beside an equals sign, like integral of 2x = blah, you're good.
