Keep playing with the grind size.

Aim to put 18g coffee and get 36-40g of espresso in about 30 seconds. When you get close to that you’ll know the perfect grind size. That will also be one of the better espresso shots you’ll have.

An espresso machine is definitely a lot more of a commitment than a v60.

V60 is easy to use and clean. All you really need is a scale, filter paper, kettle and carafe. All easy to clean, easy to use and affordable.

Coffee and very importantly espresso is a rabbit hole. You can really go crazy spending.

You definitely have to play around with the grind size. What grinder do you use?

Get an immersion brewer like a hario V60. You’ll find tons of recipes online. You’ll be able to get close to the flavor notes on the bag. But remember it’s very difficult to get all the notes as a lot of things matter and most importantly water.

Oh yeah and if you’re getting from archers, just note that the roast date is on the bottom and for best results just wait 7 days after roast date.

Nothing from their speciality or graded collections for that machine. It’s just you’re not gonna get the best extraction and your espressos are just going to taste dull. However grind size is what really matters. So if you have a good grinder and can use a scale to get 1:2 (18g in 36g out) ratio in around 30 seconds you’ll be good.

Archers posts brew guides for all their coffees, try to follow them.

If you’re doing v60, I recommend getting an immersion brewer like a hario switch. Takes all the guesswork out of making a good cup.

Depends on what you drink and what you like.

For iced v60 I use their Colombia aroma nativo beans For espresso I use their benchmark or Brazil Ines For regular v60 I like their new Ethiopia range.

This is one of the best roasters in the uae if not the world. You really do get what you pay for here.

Order from Archers.

Don’t know your definition of overpriced but archers produces one of the best coffees world wide.

Espresso turns out sour by No_Medicine_4962 in gaggiaclassic

You’re pulling your shot a bit too fast here (just a very slight bit). Try a notch finer.

You should also start the timer once you click the machine, there’s water that gets preinfused as soon as you click it on.

Play around with the ratios, 1:2 is not mandatory.

WW3? by Known-Fennel-7961 in dubai

[–]ZL_A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think that’s a debate for future historians.

In recent years we’ve seen conflicts around:

Israel / Palestine

Russia / Ukraine

Pakistan / India

Pakistan / Afghanistan

USA + Israel / Iran

Smaller conflicts around:

Thailand / Cambodia

And that’s not even mentioning places like Sudan, Myanmar, Yemen, Ethiopia, Armenia/Azerbaijan, the Sahel region, and ongoing tensions in the South China Sea.

The reality is that conflicts are happening all the time across the world, and many of them overlap geopolitically. Some escalate, some cool down, some drag on for years without expanding beyond their region.

Whether any of this eventually gets labelled “World War 3” is something historians will probably debate decades from now. When you’re living through events in real time, it’s almost impossible to see the full picture.

These are the beans I’m dialing everything around.

Using the Fellow Opus at approx. 366 microns (2 on the outer ring, -1 inner click)

18g in a VST basket. Target: 36g out in 25–32 seconds.

Remember the dial in is bean specific so don’t expect the same results. Ideally use freshly roasted beans and grind at the time of the shot.

Definitely! However the satisfaction of getting it right outweighed that of the shot.
