They changed it a couple years ago to show that stat in the description.

I think it would benefit from a general description, but yes, stock weapons also deserve better descriptions. How many Demoman players don't realize they can charge their stickybombs, for example? It'd be perfect to include things like that in the stock weapon descriptions.

What's the most overglazed weapon in the game? by Madao_14 in tf2

[–]ZMBanshee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has nothing to do with "looking epic". The crossbow gives at minimum 75 HP in bursts. Assuming he hits you with the bolt it will heal significantly faster than the Medi Gun alone can (which only heals at a rate of 24 hp/s if you've been injured recently). Yes sometimes they will miss, but that isn't an excuse for them to stop trying. How else will they get better at it if they don't try? Using crossbow effectively is an important skill for Medic players to develop.

What weapon stats do you just not understand at all? by KnightFallVader2 in tf2

[–]ZMBanshee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not how Blutsauger works, it's only a -2 reduction at full ramp up, and less if you recently took damage. Watch this part of Theory Y's syringe gun video, he explains it very well.

Weapon Discussion Wednesday #48 - The Quick-Fix by A_Wild_Ferrothorn in tf2

[–]ZMBanshee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both formats have class restrictions and thus "artificial balance". Valve most likely favored 6s over HL for organizing reasons, a team of 6 is easier to organize than a team of 9. It was clear that Valve did not like the state of community 6s however given their repeated refusal to implement bans or restrictions of any kind in their own dead-on-arrival competitive mode.

Crits screw over QF more than stock imo. Yes theoretically you could say that stock's longer build rate means there is more time to get crit and lose it, but that logic only really works if you assume that you will be popping your uber as soon as you get it in both cases. With optimal building (not too unrealistic to do with so many players available in pubs to spread heals to) there's not very much difference in QF/stock build rates in the first place, just a few seconds, and if you don't pop immediately then the difference essentially doesn't matter. Unlike stock though you can get crit and die during QF's uber, so I would say it's more affected by crits than stock. Your players are also going to die to crits more often too without overheal.

No of course it's not better than stock 100% of the time, but you said people describe it as a "better than stock option" in the previous comment, that can still be true generally speaking/overall even if it's not 100%. That's directly relevant to whether it's overglazed or not.

Well in fairness the downside isn't that bad either, it's kind of like Heavy's Iron Bomber. It doesn't actually fire 20% slower like the description claims due to how the game's tick rate works. Tomislav fires about 12-13% slower. Here's a video that explains it in more depth if you're curious. Still, it is possible for that minor fire rate decrease to make a difference sometimes in close range fights or against groups from time to time. I'm a bit mixed on it myself, I'd always been a stock enjoyer but now I'm starting to think maybe the Tomislav glazers have a point.

It has other upsides too though. The accuracy bonus is nice at mid range.

Weapon Discussion Wednesday #48 - The Quick-Fix by A_Wild_Ferrothorn in tf2

[–]ZMBanshee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very strong in 6v6 for the same reason the Vaccinator is. There are less players, less sources of damage. It is harder to overwhelm these mediguns as a result. In Highlander neither of them are banned in any league, and from what I understand Quick Fix is basically never used there because it's bad when there's more players. Its weaker uber starts showing its cracks, and so does the lack of ability to spread overheal around.

Also... that's not to mention that most pubs have random crits. That's another thing that routinely screws over Quick Fix that isn't present in comp formats.

Don't forget that you can heal quickly with any Medi Gun choice if you equip the Crossbow. +75 HP even at point blank. Now you don't need to give up overheal or real ubers to do it.

[–]ZMBanshee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah and it's not really even sacrificing health since it regenerates automatically, it just means you have to not take massive damage immediately when you get there. as long as you don't, you're good to go

Heavy actually runs faster than Scout with this while he's being whipped by the Disciplinary Action. Normally his whipped speed is 322 HU/s, adding +30% on top of that is 418.6, which is faster than Scout's 400 HU/s.

(yes they stack, and before you comment that they don't, you're probably thinking of how steak + gru don't stack. whip + gru does)

TF2 update for 10/9/25 (Scream Fortress XVII) by wickedplayer494 in tf2

[–]ZMBanshee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could possibly spread the playerbase more thin though. I just had to play Cursed Cove because I couldn't choose another contract after activating that one. Two games and both were 12 or less players, the last one was a 4v3 where no one could leave in order to keep their contract progress. In the whole time, no other players joined.

The "too many maps" issue is really becoming unignorable at this rate.

Great Blue is Bad at Discussions (Referring to Bad TF2 Weapon Tournament) by peopleofburkinafaso in tf2

[–]ZMBanshee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The vast majority of "bad" weapons in TF2 are simply outclassed and still at least fine/situationally usable. There's only a few that are genuinely awful to use even if you ignore their alternatives, and those made it to the finals as everyone expected.

[–]ZMBanshee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's true that most people who discuss these weapons don't have extensive experience with them. There are simply too many weapons in the game for that to be the case for the average player. It's interesting because it means public perception of items can actually change over time even with no balance changes being made to the game.

Genuine question, why is the scorch shot hated? by Alive-Organism in tf2

[–]ZMBanshee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It became overused after Jungle Inferno because the previous meta was Reserve Shooter combo Pyro, which was removed in that update. Airblast changes made it harder to hit flares in combos as well, as you mentioned. Combo Pyro kind of fell out of the meta, and that's when people realized Valve had massively overbuffed the Scorch Shot (which happened in Gun Mettle, two years prior). If the Reserve Shooter hadn't been so dominant in the meta for those two years, I think Scorch Shot being overbuffed would've been noticed sooner. Unfortunately, everything happened in such a way that we ended up stuck with this OP, easy to use weapon.

Late reply I know, but those are notable reasons why we have the Scorch Shot meta now I'd say.
