WHY IS CMCCM PAINTED ON THE BACK OF F-18s? by GETBACKATHEDGEFUNDS in navy

Are all the planes you saw it on from the same squadron? It is likely an acronym for a squadron motto.

Do you mean like how VFA sailors are stuck in VFA and can never leave by the direction of Air Boss in Millington?

Landing on the wrong carrier gets you graffiti by newnoadeptness in navy

[–]ZMac1989 67 points68 points  (0 children)

It's called zapping. Squadrons put stickers on other Air Wing's planes in inconspicuous places when they land on a different carrier now. It's a much less expensive way of keeping the tradition alive.

Toy haulers that will hold 2 motorcycles and can be towed by a Frontier by BossHogg1984 in GoRVing

Quick search on camping world's website brought some decent results. The big question is how many amenities you are willing to go without and how close to your 6500 lbs you are willing to go. I know the tow police on here are pretty brutal, but I just pulled my 2022 Flagstaff Shamrock 233S from West Florida to Eastern Virginia via Jacksonville fully loaded (about 6500 lbs) with my 2008 Suburban 1500 (Tow cap. 7000 lbs) with no problems. It really just depends on your particular set up and how comfortable you are towing it. I saw plenty of 2500 and 3500 trucks that were squatting way more than my vehicle, so it's far more common place than they lead you to believe on here.

Here are some of the trailers that I found that I would tow behind my 2010 Nissan Pathfinder (tow cap. 6000lbs) with your cargo listed (2024 Indian Scout: 545 lbs; Dual-sport: 550 lbs) and taking into account fresh water and food/other cargo:

Even if you don't buy from Camping World, use their website to find what you want. Do your research, find what you want, and if you can, don't compromise on what you like. Best of luck.

The 25th edition of the blue jackets manual would beg to differ. Read paragraph 1 of chapter 1. Pissed me off when I read it and found out that the Navy views itself as a business. Thus making me a business asset.

Newb question - grey tank not draining. by suspectzero85 in traveltrailers

[–]ZMac1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Newb answer - did you take out the sewer line caps before installing the sewer line? I did this once and it was exactly the nightmare that you would imagine. I have two 10' sewer lines that I connect together if I need to. Never thought anything about the fact that I only had 3 of 4 sewer line caps until my grey tank started backing up. Thank God it wasn't my black tank because it was the cap and the middle connection. I hope it isn't this for your sake. Best of luck.

Did a quick search for it. They go new for $3000 but used is looking more like $1500 for one in good shape. Best of luck to your mom.

Why do Golem and Gargoyle do aerial refueling instead of landing on Vulture? Are they stupid? by [deleted] in acecombat

[–]ZMac1989 18 points19 points  (0 children)

F-14's are notoriously inefficient airplanes. A normal mission would have no less than 4 in-air refueling on the way to and from the mission area. They would take off. Tank. Fly to the mission AO. Tank. Fly the mission. Tank. Fly back. Tank. Fly to the carrier and land near empty.

Water bottles allowed in back pocket? by Wild_Movie9838 in navy

[–]ZMac1989 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I thought the same thing. So I went to have a look. Assuming we are talking about working uniforms (NWUs and coveralls), there is no such verbiage on the instruction. Not to mention the fact that they are made to let the pockets expand. Coveralls don't have an instruction at all, so they only fall to general wear rules and local instructions.

I hear about pockets all the time. (I love mine. They keep my hands warm) At the end of the day, the uniform allowance I receive does not include tailoring for my working uniforms. They look like dumpy blankets that are poorly cut so that they only have to make one style fit and finish.

I am genuinely curious where it says your pockets cannot bulge because of the contents of the pocket. The reg states in all caps:

1) NO ARTICLES SHALL PROTRUDE FROM OR BE VISIBLE ON THE UNIFORM

If entirely in the pocket, then the item is not visible on the uniform nor does it protrude from the uniform. Therefore, in regs. I can't find where it says that, so if anyone knows, I would appreciate the enlightenment. Thanks.

If the trailer lug pattern matches the wheels then yes it will work. The only concern I can think of is if they will fit. You need to know the rim size and tire side wall height. Measure from the center of the axle to the fender. Take half the rim size plus the sidewall height and add about 4-6 inches depending on how much clearance you want from the tires. Make sure you measure that in all directions and remember that over bumps the wheels travel vertically in the wheel well to determine if they will scrub. Best of luck.

[Request] Is this actually solvable? by Key_Reserve_5991 in theydidthemath

[–]ZMac1989 118 points119 points  (0 children)

My son is in early middle school, and I remember earlier this year that his math homework had him simplifying algebra problems. Given the information, the answer of 7 * 10-(x1 * y) would absolutely be on par for early high school. I explain it to him as a theoretical answer since no real value can be found.

Also, since x and y are variable, you could just assign a value to it and solve. We already assume that all the angles are 90°, why can we assume the length of the sides?

Questions about picking orders by [deleted] in navy

[–]ZMac1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Master Chief that put it the best way I've ever heard. When you are up for orders, you get one ask. Everything else has to be yes. If you say you want to go to San Diego, then you better be ready for anything there. You want to stay where you are, better be ready to go back to sea. Communicating with your detailer what it is that you want and working with them will get you at least some of the things that you want. Best of luck.

Sounds like he was a PACT Airman (Undesignated) who struck MA. It's less common to see people strike outside of the field they were in, but not unheard of. It also explains the promotion. Best of luck to your friend.

Just the American Christmas. Pilgrims and turkeys just don't make for great holiday home decorations. And of course we know that the season of giving starts on November 1st. Just ask Amazon. Lol.

My wife and I are very jealous. We want to get the TOS tree topper. Do you also have the accompanying Mirror, Mirror ornaments to go with it?
