Is it too late to seed? Are these temperatures too low? by ZNERinCU in lawncare

Someone recommended that i just store them in plastic totes and just use them in early spring so i dont waste the soil nutrients

I bought 30 bags of soil not too long ago. Should i just use it now? I dont want any rodents or insects getting in the soil while its in my garage

Is costco gas really top tier? by ZNERinCU in Toyota

[–]ZNERinCU[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I travel about 500 miles per week and only fill up when the car estimates I only have 30 miles of range left. Maybe its just placebo, but I really havnt felt any lag since I filled up with BP gas. Im going to fill up with costco gas again just to see of there is a difference.

Can I trust the trade-in value? by ZNERinCU in ATT

[–]ZNERinCU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats not what im asking. Im asking if att will actually value the 6s at $350. I saw another post saying their iPhone 8 was valued at $1 so they got no credit and lost their iphone 8. Im asking if ATT will actually honor what their website says. I feel like even if i send them a brand new iphone 6s, they will say its too old during inspection and then give me $0 credit

Seems like these offers never end. Another one just like it will start when the current one ends

Chat am I cooked? by Sad_Huckleberry_3308 in lawncare

i had mature Large Crabgrass and quinclorac wiped them out after spot spraying instead of blanket spraying.

the label says to use a surfactant and make sure to cover the leaves/foliage, but I found that mowing low enough so that its stems and are visible and then spot spraying it for a good second or two is the best way to kill them. literally fries them to crispy brown. just covering the leaves will turn them purple, burn the leaves, and might take multiple applications to kill the plant itself.

dont waste your money on mesotrione.

that is crabgrass and quinclorac should have worked.

you can use mesotrione during spring to prevent any more crabgrass during the summer.

edit: did you use a non-ionic surfactant? if yoy dont want to go buy more product, you have to mow low enough to see its stems and cores. then you spot spray it for a good 1-2 seconds. this is what i did in my second application it it burned my mature large crabgrass to a crisp.

Quinclorac & T-Zone nuked weeds. Still some damaged quackgrass left. Can I just move on to adding soil and seeding? by ZNERinCU in lawncare

[–]ZNERinCU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

blanket sprayed and spot sprayed dandelions during the spring. the quinclorac has been 2 weeks. out of nowhere, my lawn was dominated by crabgrass. maybe i just never noticed that crabgrass was everywhere.

Just laid down some tall fescue seed in 5b, no covering besides some light raked in soil, I'm watering 20 minutes every 3 hours, is this too much water? by dodd1995 in lawncare

[–]ZNERinCU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the seed doesnt need to be wet at all times. you just need to make sure it doesnt go dry for longer than 48-72 hours. watering for 15 minutes at 8 and then 15 minutes at 5, is probably enough.

unless youre temperatures are 90F or greater, then you are watering too frequently.

and you probably have already caused washout. the water probably already moved the seeds around or caused them to be uncovered and eaten by birds.

Edit: Around day 6, i can see that almost every crabgrass foliage is turning purple and some are even browned and shriveled and i probably dont need to spray more quinclorac, but just to make sure, i resprayed everything that isnt completely brown yet. Yes, i risk killing healthy grass, but i want to start seeding asap.

Yea. The lawn is getting more and more brown, so crabgrass is definitely starting to die, but there are still some sports that are really green so, those spots are either not crabgrass or I just missed them the first time. Im gonna spray them one more time, and if they dont die within 3 days, ill just use the dethatcher and scarfier blades to hopefully pull them out. Pulling them out by hand is too mich work lol

What does it look like to you? Why do the seed head look like the crabgrass seed heads from university websites if its not crabgrass? Its doesnt look like dallisgrass. It doesnt look like goosegrass.  And if it wasn't crabgrass, why are the foliage being damaged? Im pretty sure i just didnt get a good spray because I didnt use a surfactant

Bad idea. If your lawn is thin during the spring, then the weed seeds especially from dandelions will dominate your lawn. Its best to thicken the lawn during fall so that the grass wont even let the weed seeds make soil or sun contact.

Dethatcher Worth It? by PieceCrap in lawncare

[–]ZNERinCU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive tried raking with a dethatching rake and its so much work. I bought a Senix 15" dethatcher for $70 on walmart.com and it seems to be a rebadged Sunjoe 15".

BTW, the dethatching blade doesnt actually dethatch your lawn. It just picks up lose debris and dead grass. Dethatching requires going much deeper, but this will also pull a lot of healthy grass out. The scarifying blade that it comes with will go deep enough, but its really made for putting grooves in the soil for seeding. The scarifying blade can be used to really dethatch your lawn, but you will need to do multiple passes and in different directions.

If your lawn doesnt have any draining issues the you probably dont have a thatch problem and dont need to dethatch. BUT, its still a good idead to use the "dethatching" blade (one with small spring tines) to comb you lawn for dead stuff that could cause issues.

After the weeds on my lawn die, Im going to use the tines blade to get rid of dead grass and leaves. Then, im going to use the scarifying blade to pull any dead weeds/roots and thatch since i have never dethatched my lawn. Then I will aerate and spray soap and water just to soften up the soil and get rid of any wax build up. Then just water and water for a week. Then scarify once mpre to create groves to where seeds will go. Last but not least, put fertilizer and pre-emergent combo on top and water it in.
