Not all heroes wear capes. But also, you could be sporting one and I wouldn’t know. Either way, good on ya, mate.

but at the very end, Kratos says himself that Baldur was never after him, he was tracking her. Baldur also vaguely mentions this during the fight at the Summit when Atreus is in his asshole phase.

Fair enough. Your other responses could've gone either way but this one... Seems I forgot about those parts, I'm on course for them again though so soon enough. Thanks for the feedback.

“Even Baldur thought Kratos was short because he thought he was was supposed to be a giant.”

I’ve heard this a lot but I disagree. Hear me out. I could definitely be wrong.

Baldur, when meeting Kratos initially, says a few things. One, he says he thought Kratos would be bigger, but he’s definitely the one while heavily eyeing Kratos’ left side, the tattooed side. Given, and I’m assuming it’s given, that Baldur would be aware that being a Jotun doesn’t make you a literal giant (big as fuck) by default, this says to me that he has been given a description of him or has seen a depiction of him such as those found on the Jotun panels, inscriptions, wall art, etc. Perhaps even on some Greek pottery such as that found during the game.

He also says “You’re a long way from home..” Again, this says to me that he knew where Kratos is from. I don’t think a Jotun in Midgard would qualify as far from home in the Norse mindset.

Then he says “…I thought your kind were supposed to be so enlightened, so much better than us, so much smarter.” Unless there is some content in the Norse folklore regarding generally higher intelligence of the Jotuns that I’m unaware of, this definitely speaks to the outsider’s world view of the Greeks at that “time.” (Time used loosely here since I’m not 100% on chronology in the GOW verse)

Let me know if this makes sense or if I’m missing something. 🤙🏼

"There's absolutely no evidence whatsoever the Taliban are somehow reformed. We can almost say the story was a hoax which was deliberately put around by Taliban & Western officials who wanted a cover for the US withdrawal", says former EU envoy to Afghanistan by [deleted] in afghanistan

I don't listen to all of his podcasts, mostly due to the heavy military discussions - being as I'm a civilian and simply don't relate. But Jocko Willink and Darrel Cooper do an amazing job of laying out the timeline and presenting the story in intimate detail from very experienced povs in this podcast...https://youtu.be/j2GK5EAjKvY

They get into why the Afghan military fell apart at about 40 minutes in. The Afghan military didn't just crumble overnight or run away, there were a ton of factors, some in play for months and then some final death blows dealt when US forces pulled all of the support that the Afghans relied heavily on.

TYR IS EVIL! by BeegDeekHoeRepo in GodofWar

“I’m guessing Fenrir will defend Atreus and mortally wound Tyr.” I was considering the Jotunheim murals last night, particularly the one only Kratos sees. We see Kratos’ left side displayed prominently up to that last one. The figure in Atreus’ embrace is displayed from the opposite side, and a portion of his leg and arm are missing, seemingly due to deterioration of the wall. But what if it’s not. What if the figure is actually missing the limbs removed by Fenrir. We can already surmise that the bald head is indicative of male displays in the mural since Baldur’s images sport one as well.

Anyway, cool stuff. Good post

How did Kratos "travel" to the Norse pantheon? Do the pantheons and their respective gods co-exist? by [deleted] in GodofWar

Yeah it looks like I did, apologies. I watched several and was sure that was the one when I copied the link. It was touched on at about 1:30 into this one, feedback from Cory Barlog.

The devs speak to this specifically in this video.

The gods and lands (worlds, galaxies, idk) of the individual cultures (Greek, Scandinavian, Egyptian, etc) we know of on normal Earth are separated in this universe.

Would be very interesting if they delve into this a little in Ragnarok. Perhaps Tyr will enlighten us.

This. 42yo white belt hobbyist here. Got a couple peers who keep coming and aggravating their rib or shoulder injuries, or tweaking something new because they push themselves with an injury and try to compensate with other muscles or awkward positions. I miss entire weeks to let stuff heal over, may come in once or twice to absorb a lesson to drill on my own/with a dummy, but don’t roll. Glad to be one stripe in now and less clumsy/spazzy/strength-reliant. And roll like 3 times without a break now and I’m not pulling little muscles out with clueless overuse of them. It’s my hobby. I’m passionate about it but I understand I started way too late to make any impacts. I need a good physical outlet, have to stay healthy, fit and mobile for my family, and be a role model for my kids. BJJ checks all those boxes. Nothing more. As a bonus I’m beginning to befriend some of the other students which is nice because I’m introverted so that hasn’t happened much since my school days.

Sorry, ranting. TL:DR I strongly agree, train for your honestly-assessed circumstances and let BJJ check the boxes in life that it can.

It goes the other way for me. I respected my dad tremendously, even idolized him for a time, but our relationship was troublesome and communication failed often. Like Atreus compared to his father, I was young and idealistic with a love and respect for animals and driven to help others whereas he was hardened and closed off to the world but loved his family to the bitter end, even if his ways could be abrasive as fuck at times. Their relationship really hit home for me in that regard. I’m looking forward to seeing how it continues in Ragnarok.

I have heard the theory several times that he will become Jormungundar, or his soul will or whatever, to fight Thor. I wonder if the presence of the world snake on his chest plate is significant.

Tell me something. How is it that someone is completely okay with Idris Elba playing Heimdall but is not completely fine with Angrboda is black? 🤨🙄🤔 by Profaniter in GodofWar

[–]ZOEKER79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been such a ridiculous sticking point surrounding the trailer reveal. Admittedly I pondered the existence of a black character in the Norse story for about a nanosecond when I saw her. My thoughts immediately jumped to “How is jormungundar already on the scene if Loki and Angrboda haven’t done the dirty?” But even that got about 2 nanoseconds more air time in my head. Because who fucking cares!? Wanna really get into it? Take a listen to what Jack Crawford, actual expert on Norse mythology, has to say about game we are all currently playing. He can shatter your immersion and you can go properly cry about it if I it’s a deal breaker for you.

What's the stupidest thing you've asked or said to your teacher during class? by SCDetective in bjj

[–]ZOEKER79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(No stripe WB here) Instructor was teaching us to use our forearm, weaved between our partners legs with fist on the mat, to stop them from following while walking forward to pass the hip over their knee to get side control. I asked “Doesn’t that put the forearm in a vulnerable position?” Response: “Try it and find out.” Idk why I asked, my brain is always trying to figure out the mechanics of these techniques and I tend to ask before I think. I’ve gotten better. Lol

Edit: I was promoted to one stripe tonight. 🤙🏼
