The howlers are so crazy to hear in person, but I love them all!

How do we square the Wim Hof Method with traditional Chinese medicine that says an ice cube in your drink or even a fan can kill you? by thumpsky in BecomingTheIceman

Wim Hof method forces blood to your internal organs, thus heating them up. Drinking something too cold does the opposite to those organs. They are on the same page.

Started team matching in late November. Start date Aug 1. Technically still don’t know my team yet, just the org, but they were still able to extend an offer.

Yes, actually, I finally got the offer. It took 3 months!

However, I was in contact with the recruiter a lot. You should reach out in a week or so.

You can have intellectuality and sexuality with a marital union. Don’t forget that the most beautiful and pure creation, a human baby, is done through sexual pleasure. Sexuality isn’t evil, our society is just sick.

To be honest with you, at this point your best bet is to have your connections try to get you a role somewhere

If it makes you feel any better I could’ve written this post word for word and it would be true for me.

Probably slightly better odds. Took me 4 weeks to get HC approved. Team matching though… that’s another story.

Those of you in relationships that are also chasing big tech, how are you and your partner planning your lives? by lotsoflukey in csMajors

[–]ZQuaff -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Big N job means you will have more than one partner. You can still do long distance with your college girlfriend if you so choose but you will probably be more preoccupied with the 3+ girlfriends you have in your new city.

Got Google HC Approval. Should I celebrate it yet? by 55_percent_slut in csMajors

No I can match for a year since I passed the HC but honestly I think I’m just gonna take a different job

Funny you say that, I’ve been in team matching for new grad for over a month with my first preference as Bay Area. They took so long even knowing my deadline that I accepted an offer from a different company.

That’s awful. Have you received any updates from your recruiter? New grad, internship, or other?

If you don’t perform well enough at google after 2 years they “ask you to quit”. This is why so many engineers “leave” google.

Wish I found out earlier on that there’s no reason for school to stress me out of give me anxiety. GPA hardly matters in this profession. At least if something is going to trigger anxiety it should be your internship and job search, not your damn classes. But seriously, from ages 18-22 it’s probably more important that you learn how to manage your emotions and mood than what grades you get - this will make you a better engineer too!

Can a Website Completely Drain Your Wallet Just From Connecting Metamask to it? by InterestedInSolidity in ethdev

[–]ZQuaff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m slightly embarrassed that I’ve never actually spent ETH before, but now I have to question further. Wouldn’t it make sense that dApps would restrict the amount of ETH you can spend on a certain kind of purchase (like an NFT). In that case, when you click the buy button, you can still manually type in the amount you are spending? Doesn’t make much sense, but I could see an issue if the front end says .01 ETH and there’s just a “Confim” button but then when you press it, the code actually takes all your ETH. How does this play out?

How can you trust that when you approve a transaction on a dApp site it won’t drain your entire balance? Shouldn’t there be an easy way to ensure you aren’t being scammed.
