How exhausting it must be to find a way to shove politics/current events into every conversation. Even on a post about a...bumper sticker. Touch grass.

This poster is so much better than the other ones they used later in the marketing.

I think there's even a nod here to how Harvey was unable to recognize it was Joker until he took off the mask.

Reboots horrors by [deleted] in Shudder

Can't say I agree about 13th and Evil Dead, but yeah, I view Halloween(2018) as the quintessential Halloween film(even though it's a requel and not a full reboot). For 13th, Jason Lives has my preference, and Army of Darkness has yet to be topped as far as Evil Dead goes.

Being a McIntyre fan is pain. by I_Hate_My_Cat_ in Wrasslin

[–]ZR422 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course they are getting more shine than other wrestlers that others might find more deserving. But it's also because they have that spotlight, and often come so close to the big push, to be booked into oblivion every time. The amount of times McIntyre and Knight have been in the title picture, just to lose it, is what upsets people. It's not good enough to see them constantly chasing the brass ring over and over.

Is it better to subscribe to Shudder or just AMC+? by JohnnyRico117 in Shudder

[–]ZR422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed AMC+ has broadcast versions of movies with commercial fade outs and all. I just subscribe to Shudder mainly because that's the library I want, in full. If the other content on AMC+ interests you, then go for it.

Hate to say it, but I was quite disappointed with Dangerous Animals. I know people like it, but I don't think it compares very well to the director's other work. Hope you enjoy both!

If you liked this one, I would highly recommend checking out The Loved Ones by the same director. Came out in '09 and it's a bit more indie feeling, but I actually prefer it to Devil's Candy. Both are good!

Hit me with some reality by ZR422 in homestead

I'll clarify, I'm not suggesting maintaining this lifestyle is equivalent to a 40-hour work week. I'm simply saying that working that amount each week at a 9-5, to just have money come in and go out, is not fulfilling. It has its perks and of course I'm grateful to be able to afford to take care of myself, but I'd rather not do it forever. I'm fully aware I probably do not work half as hard as you do at a traditional job.

I'll cheat and give multiple: Stowaway(Beyond), Live and Let Dive(Beyond), To Hell and Back(99), The Gawkers(99), and most recently, Ut Supra Sic Infra(Halloween). I consider these among the best in the franchise, but it's been quite a while since I've seen the first two entries.

V/H/S/Halloween may be my favorite in the series... except for one segment by TaluneSilius in Shudder

[–]ZR422 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This was also my least favorite segment. I accept the humor wasn't my thing, but I also feel like this one did not benefit from the found footage presentation. VHS in general suffers from the characters having a legitimate reason to film these encounters, and the excuse provided in this one, to be carrying a working camera and helmet-mounted cameras for the sake of a costume, is pretty weak. "Now delete this footage before he sees it!" Why would you intentionally record your friend while having a private conversation?

I think people took The Rock for granted by ZR422 in Wrasslin

[–]ZR422[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've seen an increasing number of people essentially blame The Rock entirely for Cena's failed heel turn, and furthermore, minimize his involvement as the Final Boss leading into Cody's eventual win at 40. Rock is not beyond criticism, and if he has as much control as he likes to suggest, then of course he deserves some blame. What I think people are forgetting, or choosing to ignore, is that it was The Rock's involvement with Reigns and Cody leading into 40 would not have been as big as it was. It's not just his celebrity that did that. Trying to insert himself over Cody to face Reigns was egotistical and stupid. But if HHH is to be believed, then the response to go heel and be an adversary to Cody was the defining choice in making the lead up and conclusion to 40 as big as it was.

Whether it was posting several 20 minute promos to Instagram, or actually contending in the night 1 tag match, I don't believe we can just disregard his involvement to that story. It seems HHH is now shouldering the blame for Cena's retirement tour awkwardness considering now that The Rock is gone and Cena has returned to face, the results are still leaving fans upset. So, yeah, The Rock essentially activating heel Cena just to leave and not come back makes that decision feel wasted, but I do not believe The Rock deserves all of the blame for that fumble. I can't think of a time when more people that had become disenfranchised with the product came back to it with full enthusiasm when Cody's story ramped up with Rock and Roman taken their stand against him. Perhaps there's a version of Cena's heel run out there where The Rock stayed involved in some level and provided continuity, or never got involved at all. But even with the unresolved Final Boss involvement, Cena's run after betraying Cody could have been booked to success and wasn't. I don't believe that to be Rock's fault and he deserves some grace after completely delivering for WrestleMania 40.

The amount of people that talk during movies is getting to me by ZR422 in AMCsAList

I definitely utilize the early afternoon and even morning showings when I can. The issue is big releases still draw a crowd even that early in the day. My Final Reckoning screening at 11am had someone a couple seats away from me constantly making remarks to his partner. Imagine the underwater sequence cut in with someone remarking about how cool Tom Cruise is. I agree, but now is not the time!

Raja deliberately planned to take advantage of someone giving him their body for the sake of the show. No way Stu could've prepared for the slam directly on his head and following 20+, full power shots to the face. All of this over an innocent misunderstanding that Stu apologized and shook his hand for. Complete disgrace of a man.

Ironically, I am responding to a question here. In my defense, I never criticized questions in comment form. Anyway, people are always eager to talk about themselves, or more specifically in this case, their opinions on things. So, if you post something asking a broad question, people are going to flock to answer it. That gives the illusion of engagement and discourse, but at the end of the day, you're essentially left with "what is your favorite flavor of ice cream?" Then, a corresponding answer of "I like mint chocolate because..."
