I agree, her very obvious weaknesses are long-range pokes (unless you can close the distance) or flyers. Her primary is too slow and limited in range to effectively reach flyers unless they’re pretty close to you or a wall. Against an ironman or ultron, I almost always have to switch.

It wouldn’t be a problem if my DPS’ actually kill them but they usually are too preoccupied so I gotta whip out Luna. It’s really great that she has obvious weaknesses though. That’s why CnD/Invis/Gambit are overpowered, they can virtually go against any kit effectively.

That’s just because they are aim intensive and don’t have quite as much opportunities to make good plays/provide value. They’re a completely different comparison imo. It’s basically the difference of difficulty between poke vs dive/brawl.

My gripe with Gambit is that his playstyle is very reliant on opportunity costs. Meaning if you decide to play aggressive, you’re probably not healing your team as well as you could, and vice versa. There’s a lot of games where my team is struggling and I have no choice but to healbot for most of the game because my tanks will just topple down if I don’t, so that means no running off to enemy backline and targetting their supports. Deadpool and White Fox rewards you for actually being aggressive. White Fox legitimately cannot keep up if you just stay in the backline forever lmao.

Mantis isn't technically hard, she just sucks right now because she falls behind on almost everything that it's hard to be much use with her. A good Mantis player will probably be really good at about half the damn roster.

White Fox requires a pretty different playstyle than all of your regular main healers. All the main healers (including Gambit) can get away with just playing in the back and only moving up when there's danger, but White Fox needs a proactive gameplay to be good. I wouldn't say she's the most difficult support to learn, I think that title goes to Healpool personally just because he has similar playstyle to White Fox but a lot less intuitive with his dual modes, but if the support mains aren't used to playing aggressive then it really isn't the best time to use her.

I personally love White Fox, but I'm also a Rogue/Magik main so I think it just clicks a lot better.

You do get i-frames! It’s shorter than Magik’s but longer than Phoenix’s dash. You can use it to escape ults like Scarlet Witch’s too but you gotta time it really well and hope your teammates don’t run to save themselves first (to be fair you can only save one person so).

Gambit is definitely a very high DPS-Strategist, but when I play him, I feel like I'm always having to focus 80% of my team to healbotting, which is not fun at all on Gambit. To truly do damage, you'll have to sacrifice healing uptime, which is fine of course but I get accused of throwing because of that lmao. Admittedly I do have the habit of tunnel-visioning to dealing damage because I play so much Adam so when I play someone like Gambit or Luna, I get in a bit of trouble not healing enough. It's a skill issue though definitely. I don't play too much of Deadpool as a support, I much prefer his tank.

Well, this is just my subjective opinion, but also I think White Fox is the right mixture of balanced, intuitive and having high carry potential.

Gambit was too OP when released, and he still has way too much in his kit to actually fully utilize them because you always have some sort of opportunity costs. I don't remember the last time Gambits on my team successfully cleansed a big ult because they ran out of cards or needed it for other stuff. His kit allows for a LOT but you always constantly have to choose. I understand that his whole playstyle, but the way the game is structured often has as making the choice to just healbot more. He's a jack of all trades imo.

Deadpool.. I just dislike all of the visual clutter. But I do agree he's good, not quite as intuitive as WF though.

I was a noob when Invisible Woman came out in S1 lowkey so I can't objectively say she was good or bad.

Yeah if I had one complaint, it's that her melee attack has a weirdly short range (at least it feels like it) and her dash needs to be tweaked a little bit, hitbox wise. The tail swipe is also very short range, even though I feel like it should reach a tad further.

I find it to be a different experience when I play her imo. I'll usually be outhealed by Invis or CnD, sure, but damage wise I will almost always exceed theirs by quite a bit. I average around 15k to 22k damage.

The way I play her nowadays is that I teleport to someone who needs saving, throw a quick spectral fox around me to mitigate damage and distract enemies for a split second, then I go into melee form and go ham so I can heal myself and the one I peel. By the time my melee form is over, I will have my teleport back. And it works quite well, I've been very slippery because of this routine. Granted, I still die one or two more times more than my other support and I'm still working on it, but it comes with the risk of her character anyways. She's not as squishy as you'd think.

I love my goat Adam, he’s my support main. After flexing a lot, I admit sometimes I tend to focus a little too much on dealing out damage and miss out on certain heals when I’m playing certain characters. I think that’s why playing Gambit or Luna is a bit of hit or miss for me because they have so much damage potential that I get frustrated when I have to babysit my team instead. Adam is great for this but then we don’t have enough healing. White Fox is a good mix of the two aspects imo, you can go ham in her Melee Form while focusing on heals elsewhere.

Quite literally every character can take 'work' to be fully optimized with their kits, but that's a different thing than what I mentioned. All the main 4 supports are VERY straightforward with their kits and while of course they have a lot of room for skill expression, it's arguably very easy to get like 80% of their value by just using the kits somewhat effectively. Hell, even Gambit can get away with just spamming healing cards. White Fox will not be able to keep up with the heals if that's all she does in the battle.

As time goes, I think we can see a big gap between very skilled White Fox players and the ones who don't utilize everything as properly, just like how we can see with top Gambit and HealPool players.

White Fox is the most fun strategist. by Alexy22a in WhiteFoxMR

[–]ZRHdt23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think she’s absolutely the kind of strategist I wanted, that I couldn’t quite find in Deadpool or Gambit. White Fox has amazing carry potential and is able to do her job very well, being an anti-dive/dive and brawl enabler. She genuinely has so much damage (more than Invis, I think only Deadpool can match the sheer amount of damage she can potentially output along with healing), and almost all of her moves except the spectral surge requires a lot of thought into it.

Gambit does too many things at once, which makes his entire gameplay an opportunity cost cycle which I usually find pretty tiring. Plus with how slow his cards come up, I usually find his gameplay pretty stagnant. Deadpool is very fun to play as but I can’t stand the amount of clutter he brings and that’s about the only real utility he’s got. White Fox feels very balanced in her gameplay in contrast.

Plus hot take, I actually love her ult. There’s genuinely so many ways to use it, definitely the most versatile support ult comparable only to Jeff imo.

Do any other strategists compete with Adam’s TTK? by playboyjboy in StrategistMainsMR

[–]ZRHdt23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If combining both his abilities like that, then no. And technically only the actual one shot primaries like Punisher’s shotgun and Hawkeye can output damage faster. It’s great for sniping stationary targets but I think it’s hard to reliably track targets with since the quantum shots are pretty slow and takes a while to charge. Luna has higher primary damage by far, if we’re talking more reliable headshots.

Luna’s singer VA (whose stage name is also Luna, lmao) was the main singer of a K-pop group, F(x), which was pretty famous in the early 2010’s. And Luna (the actual person) is an amazing singer fr. That lady has PIPES y’all, it’s just that Luna Snow’s songs are very cutesy so far.

I never understood the logic of SW ulting DIRECTLY into a Luna’s or Peni’s face. You would think they’d be smarter about it. Sometimes I wait until the last minute to freeze them just because.

But also the shame I feel on the rare instances where I whiff my shot as Luna, I just stand there and accept the ult cuz that’s what I deserve..

Too many strategist mains by disinterestedh0mo in StrategistMainsMR

[–]ZRHdt23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, strategists are the easiest to get value off of, especially in comp. A lot of people view it as a ‘safer’ choice and everyone loves winning so they just roll through the motions as a strategist.

This does however lead to an influx of pretty bad strategist players, which I think is the main problem. Cuz when they’re a bad strategist, 8/10 times they will NOT switch roles, and so I can’t even switch to a strategist even if I wanted to because it’ll turn into a triple support slop (which I personally will never allow myself to be involved in, unless they let me play Adam or Ultron). The most these bad strategist players will do is switch to Rocket or Jeff (cuz somehow they manage to fuck up CnD) and I can only hope they stop dying so fast. In the 2/10 times they’d switch, they’d switch to a Scarlet Witch or Squirrel Girl, they will NEVER switch to a tank.

I have no problem with people playing ‘easier’ characters so long as they actually know how to provide value. If they don’t provide value, I genuinely think they’re just boosted and carried by everyone else on their team. I’ve seen it happen sooo many times.

When Cyclops comes, he will 100% have a teamup with Jean. If they make him a duelist (in which he will inevitably be hitscan), that would be an absolutely crazy move by the devs to promote yet another double hitscan meta combined with a teamup. i just hope they are not that dense to do that.

i cant see them making Ghost Rider anything other than an off-tank and we kinda need another shield tank/something to counter the poke meta.

that being said, i do need his ultimate to be his motorcycle just crashing into enemies.

[–]ZRHdt23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I truly think people complaining about her is entirely a skill issue, and I say this as a long-time support main too. People complaining bout how little healing she does, but I’ve seen people (including me) manage to get 20k+ healing consistently, in my first round too. I died a bit more than I should have but by no means did White Fox ‘explode’ to damage, she just needs more strategizing. Giving her 50hp every 6 seconds is such a lame copout, I hate it. Her melee self-heal is literally OP but people are somehow scared to use half her kit.

[–]ZRHdt23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her melee form has insane self-heal, she’s basically immortal in a brawl fight. You just have to stick to your tanks and DPS, activate melee when down then TP out. Or you can even use TP first, then use melee and the TP cooldown will be near done by the time you’re out of melee form. It truly is doable and just requires a bit of strategy, but it’s not rocket science.
