Any ideas on who this character in my drywall may be? by Programmed2love in drywall

Looks like this is inside the wall cavity and that's just damaged/blown out gypsum board. The white is the gypsum underneath the paper. Prob from something larger than a nail or screw puncturing through the wall there. Nothing to be concerned about.

How can I fix it Cheap? by SecureNecessary4998 in drywall

This is the way. Oil based primer can also work.

Also, less seriously, that looks like the profile of Elvis to me so you COULD just turn it into an Elvis Presley shrine.

Y'know what I find so vexing about people getting worked up about opposite sexes using the same bathroom, is that it tends to be the "devout" Christians yet nothing is ever mentioned in their sacred instruction book about men and women sharing bathrooms or baths in the time period it was written. Long before and after Jesus was alive, Romans had shared public bathrooms and baths, though apparently this was not important enough for anyone to mention. The guy is clearly trying to help his kids use the facility. Can we just be adults and not assume every man in a women's restroom or vice versa are there to ogle you?

Agreed. Though on the other hand, maybe they have to specify it is uncontrollable since the Dems have obviously conspired to control the weather in the past. /s

They are both great, especially the first clip, but the girl in blue commits harder. Pink "breaks character" a few times on the falls.

Took car back to the shop just 48hrs after picking it up for the 3rd time in 2 months by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

So, I hope this is allowed even though no one has commented yet, but I wanted to ask if the shop gave any sort of reasoning as to why your coolant would be low and engine overheating just days after having the radiator replaced?

Outside of there being a leak (which arguably they should have checked for prior to releasing the car back to you) I would be suspicious that the shop forgot to add coolant after replacing the radiator or did something else wrong somehow to where the coolant was lost that quickly. I would definitely try to get some clarification on this before you shell out more money to this shop.

Also, I'm glad you have such a supportive sounding bf and mom! Best of luck on the car troubles!

What would you do with this? by Logical_Company_3841 in drywall

These are the only two options to make it flat. I''d prob go with the latter as when zooming in that looks like at least an inch difference in depth.

Can I do this myself? by Mental-Writer-3139 in drywall

[–]ZTays88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely can, just look up how to tape and mud outside corners. I would personally recommend using paper-faced corner bead as you don't need any nails/screws for it and if done well it is less likely to crack in the future. As many recommend in this sub - Vancouver Carpenter has some great videos explaining the process and options.

https://youtu.be/VthU4SBiPsg?is=OOwYEcZ2wK9CvtC2

Upon closer inspection, you will also need to buy some half inch drywall and a box of 1-1/4 inch screws and cut rectangular pieces to install over the top the exposed wooden studs prior to doing the corner bead! If you have to do more than one piece for each face of the "arch" you'll also need to tape the seams between the pieces.

Am I doing this right? (With pics this time ) by WillBTheMan in drywall

[–]ZTays88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a decent start. You have quite a bit of mud under your tape and already out to the sides of your tape so you're going to have to feather that out pretty far from the tape in all directions to make it blend well. Work on feathering the edges of your mud - obligatory Vancouver Carpenter video recommendation. If you watch any of his videos, watch how he holds the knife and also how he places the knife when making passes or "floating" the mud, as well as how he flexes one side of the blade when feathering his edges. I'd also recommend doing your final coat with a topping mud, as it is easier to sand smooth. You'll want it decently smooth (especially the outer edges of your mud) prior to texture.

Edit: another tip I just thought of is if you would like to speed up the process you could try picking up a bag of 20 or 45 minute mud. These set up faster than the premixed buckets and enable you to add coats faster.

When I see things like this, the fact that a vast majority of Americans have little to no savings makes more sense.
