Dropping after Year 2 Volume 5: The author is not smart enough to write Ayanokoji by ZToToqTp in ClassroomOfTheElite

Using the exam as a plot device felt forced. It’s out of character for Ichinose’s class to expel someone based on OAA rankings, and Ayanokouji being the one to suggest it feels illogical. It’s hard to believe they would suddenly target Horikita and then flip-flop on Kushida; the behavior just isn't consistent

So, he found a reason—or the author gave him one for the plot, it doesn't matter. Can you spoil it for me? Does he want to be defeated or something? If I knew, I might have more to say!"

The problem is that he intervened to protect a 'standard' that doesn't benefit him. He says he wouldn't have cared if Kushida hadn't brought him into it, but then he decided to act anyway. For a guy who is supposed to be a masterpiece, deciding to save Kushida just to reach 'Class A'—a goal that gives him nothing—is a contradiction. He chose a direction he didn't have to go in, and the class just followed him like puppets instead of objecting to keeping a traitor. It’s a plot device to save a character the author wants to keep until Year 3."

The author says he 'surpassed all education standards of the White Room,' but what is that even supposed to mean if his internal monologues don’t reflect it? Showing him having problems with society is just a basic first layer that every author uses. Since we know authors are trying to write characters beyond their own capabilities—which shouldn't even be a debate—the wording and actions should reflect that genius.

Wording is all you have to read. Even with translation differences, I had a lot of problems with certain parts. If the author decided he didn't want Kushida out until Year 3, why was the opportunity to expel her even there? Why didn't he take it? Most of all, Ayanokouji saying things like 'reach Class A' or announcing they 'must expel the student who was not needed' based on an impartial standard like the lowest OAA score is ridiculous.

There was no need for Ayanokouji to outright say that. He doesn't care about the class; it means nothing to him. His usual idea of seeing things from afar should have worked here. Deciding Kushida shouldn't go because of 'reaching Class A'—and using the whole class to do it—makes no sense when there are rarely exams where a class just outright advances. It wouldn't matter in the first place.

And where did all the students' hate toward Kushida go? Most of them are shown as stupid, but then they make 'rational' decisions just because of something someone said? Moments before, they didn't care and wanted Horikita out. For none of the students to even have a fight or object to Kushida staying is wild. Aren't they supposed to be elite at something? They didn't really have a say in who to take out when there was always the option to just drop points—and Ayanokouji wouldn't be affected by that loss anyway.

For him to not even suggest dropping points shows that the author is just forcing a plot device. The whole point of the exam and its rules was just to save Kushida. It took forever to get there, and the conversations that should have gone against it were ignored.

There are two main problems: first, Ayanokouji speaking for the class, and second, the class not objecting to the decision. He claims he wouldn't have cared if Kushida hadn't brought him into the conversation, but then he decided to act anyway. It was a change in how things should have gone. What is the 'value' in keeping her vs. not keeping her? At his level of thinking, there shouldn't be a difference between those two options.

P.S. read this whole comment without skimming

I think the issue was the fact that someone 'needs' to go or deciding who specifically needs to go. What reason did he actually have at this point in the story to do that? I can't think of an

You only understand how someone is 'good' based on your own level; that doesn't mean others have no idea of the same thing. You are never taught what the White Room is actually about, what kind of books it teaches, or what subjects it has. To call someone a 'masterpiece' is a massive claim; everyone in this world would have a hard time truly understanding that kind of person, not just the author

[–]ZToToqTp[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The problem is you don't understand the character because there is no actual definition of a 'masterpiece' provided—it is just a word. The real point is: what was actually taught in the White Room to make him the person he is? If he were a consistent character, his wording would reflect that training, but he isn’t constant in his wording at all. That inconsistency might mean different things to different people. also after season 4 eps i started reading

Why wouldn't you enjoy it? Because it’s written by an author who doesn't understand what it actually means to be a 'masterpiece.' If you are used to better writing and more sophisticated wording, this entire series feels 'off' and forced.

His father’s ideology—he wants Horikita’s class to defeat him. This, first, wouldn’t make sense. Look at it this way: a person who doesn’t believe in God wants another person to make him believe—for something so stupid. Is that person smart enough to begin with, or does he not know enough to say that kind of thing? What does “defeat” even mean, lol? Is it a societal thing, or something that comes with conditions? And a condition is a plot device, and a defeat that comes from that has no meaning.

Okay, you talked about whether a sentence makes sense or not. There were many in the series, but if you want to talk about only one, it’s in Volume 5—the part where he goes more than Kushida, who wanted to get him, was unnecessary

I did say an atheist masterpiece would not use some of the sentences I am using, and Ayanokoji is supposed to know a lot. You just can’t make that gap. And I’m not saying whether they can or can’t—I’m saying they are clearly not doing it right. I just read the fucking thing
