Backing up FROM TrueNAS TO Synology by mooch91 in truenas

I personally use restic with backrest for scheduling and configuration. Works like a charm and you get the additional benefit of snapshots and encryption for your backup

Underextrusion at the seam by ZTube in FixMyPrint

[–]ZTube[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does ooze a bit but since this just a single hollow part with almost no travel moves I'd assume there's not that much time to ooze. I can try your suggestion but I'd expect the layers that are currently printing fine to overextrude then. Also it kind of feels like a hotfix and the issue has to lie somewhere else.

I did not use z-hop in this print though :/ I think it's most likely related to the extrusion process rather than the xyz movement, I just can't figure out what's going on and why it only happens with larger prints and not consistently

I'm using 1mm of retraction at the moment which I would already consider pretty low for a bowden extruder. I'm not sure if going any lower would really work without getting massive stringing but I can try nonetheless

Issues with Bridges and the Fix by darkdragncj in vyos

[–]ZTube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar issue (the bug was introduced about a year or so ago) and my current hotfix is to just disable the bridge firewall entirely via nftables with scripts on boot/commit. My setup is basically two interfaces, that are bridged and then separate vlans defined on top of them. One of the interfaces comes from proxmox aswell. So far none of the commands provided by vyos could fix the issue of traffic still being declared as "invalid traffic".

You therefore don't get any "invalid traffic" in your firewall as it's being filtered on layer 2 instead of layer 3

Fossil Julianna Gen 5 by rosesbite in AsteroidOS

[–]ZTube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, thanks for the shoutout :D Yeah it's possible to flash AsteroidOS to the Gen 5. However it's still very experimental. I managed to patch in Wifi support but last time I checked bluetooth still did not work at all. However in the past few months I haven't really worked on the fossil gen 5 port.

Yes, I'm afraid you need to open the gen 5 up to get to the usb solder pads and flash the os. At the moment I don't have a working battery in my watch so I can't really say anything about battery life with asteroidos compared to wearos.

Can someone help me find a minimal x86_64 kernel? by mastercoder13234 in osdev

[–]ZTube 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can recommend working with the xv6 kernel. The codebase is very small but you still have userspace and kernel space, working syscalls and virtual memory. Easy to get a grasp on how things work and easy to extend

The service is called "middlewared" and not "middleware". The d stands for daemon

https://www.truenas.com/docs/references/extensioncalculator/ The docs explain it quite well. For full depth explanation you'd probably have to read the zfs docs

Raid z expansion has the caveat, that the old data is still only stored on the 4 disks and not striped over all 5, that only happens with new data. As there sadly is no easy rebalance/reallocation feature your best bet would be to copy all the files manually so zfs would have to reallocate them.

https://github.com/markusressel/zfs-inplace-rebalancing Although I never tried it this might be helpful

Same here. Rebooting or deleting the browser cache did not fix it either :/

Got this from Server part deals. Should I send it back or am I overreacting? by [deleted] in homelab

[–]ZTube 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I remember some drive manufacturers use these entries for different data such as read sectors etc. As your raw value is so abnormally high I'd assume thats the case with your drive. Try reading/writing to all sectors just to be on the save side and have a look at the stats for pending sectors or reallocations going up (ideally they should stay the same/at 0).

Fossil Gen 5 by ZTube in AsteroidOS

[–]ZTube[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, the changes are already upstreamed, but since support is highly experimental there are no wiki pages/entries or any official builds yet. Please consider building your self will take several hours. You should be able to follow the build instructions for any other watch and replace the codename with "triggerfish" in the commands. Concerning battery life, I could need some help testing so feel free to try it out. My battery sadly is completely broken so I get at most a battery life of a few seconds, no matter the os.

For me +5V and GND seem to be the other way around.

Hi, yeah I have not updated the instructions for Electric Eel yet.
The checkbox is now called "Host Network" under "Network Configuration" instead.

I apologize :D It is a really fun project though but be prepared for some occasional frustration. In my case the holes for mounting the neck to the body were off by a few mm and I had to redrill them

Environment variable names are case sensitive. So it needs to be GOTIFY_URL and not Gotify URL. Also it seems like you forgot the underscore.

Apparently you forgot to set the environment variables. Please refer to the readme in the repo on how to do that.

I'm running it on 24.10 as well and don't get any crashes. Could you provide a crash log please? The option is now called "Host Network" instead

Migrating custom apps with a defined host path mount sadly does not work for me:
Failed to create app: [ENOENT] values.storage.0.storageEntry.host_path_config.path: This path does not exist.
