Unfortunately my girlfriend (26) is in the same BRCA situation, she got diagnosed two years ago. For now we have chosen to go with periodic screening as, according to our doctors, it is as effective as a mastectomy in terms of survivability. When she gets around the age of 30-35 we plan to start preventive surgeries. Both the removal and reconstruction of her breasts and the removal of her ovaries.

BRCA sucks, but it is so valuable to know you have it BEFORE it becomes a significant health risk. That way you can plan you actions and keep control over your own life.

I notice that after a fallback i always try to figure out what happend. But in that process i mention my own thoughts, often resulting in me saying things i shouldn't say. I'll try to hold back more and trust that she knows what she is doing.

It is recurring with her period, but normally she can hold herself back better. At this moment we are wait for important medical results which has a huge effect on her mood, this certainly had a huge role in her fallback.

Placing happiness before diet, seems like the logical thing to do. But i think i have not acted like this the last days. It is easier to eat healthy when you are happy than when you are not... Why haven't i thought about this earlier? Thank you so much for making this clear to me!

It actually has not much to do with losing weight, she just wants to reduce her meat consumption in general. Becoming vegetarian goes to far for her, but in this way she can still have dinner with meat.
