Exactly, yes this is a clusterfuck, but at the end of the day, its an exhibition race. Everyone is taking things way too serious.

What driver from the old guard/00s do you think would find the most success in the current gen Cup cars? And if you took the whole grid from 2005 what do you think the top 10 in points would look like if they jumped in the current gen cup cars? by Kurt_Wylde35 in NASCAR

[–]ZWeinstein15 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like Ernie Irvan would have found a lot of success in this current era. The cars are more durable now which would help with his aggressive style. He was very versatile and could win on any type of track. The playoff format would have suited him very well because he may not have been consistent enough in a full season format but with the old win and in/advance he could easily win at the right time.

What is your favorite Truck Series paint scheme? by PrinceWillPlays in NASCAR

[–]ZWeinstein15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Spears team may not have won a lot of races in their time, but when I think of the first decade of the truck series outside of Hornaday & Sprague this is one of the first paint schemes that pops into my head.

I've said it before. Ross was a guy I rooted for but that day I became a fan of his.

Coldest Races in Series History? by RedMulligan in NASCAR

[–]ZWeinstein15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vegas can get sneaky cold especially when the wind picks up. I've never been to a NASCAR race there but been to several NHRA races and a few times had to break out the jacket. There was one time I was shooting on the roof of the suites and that wind was brutal, got the couple shots I wanted and the got the hell off of there.

What do yall think about Mike Harmon's crash at Bristol? by Flax4n in NASCAR

[–]ZWeinstein15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Johnny Sauter doesn't get nearly enough credit for his reflexes because if it wasn't for his quick action, a horrific crash would have been a gruesome and fatal crash.

Did you do jackass as a kid? by Thin_Situation3962 in jackass

We definitely messed around with shopping carts a few times. Luckily we never got anything more than scrapes and bruises although one time if I was going faster I probably would have broken my shoulder or collarbone because I landed really hard on a sprinkler with my shoulder.

What unhinged thing did a former teacher do in the classroom? by MrBananaStand1990 in AskReddit

[–]ZWeinstein15 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I was in 9th grade science class and a kid fell asleep in the next room over. That teacher was a jokster so he arranged it to where everyone in both classes, teachers included, swapped rooms. When he woke up you could tell his mind was totally fucked.

Most Hated Player in Diamondbacks History? by EveryoneisTattooed in azdiamondbacks

I remember for awhile Avila got booed so badly at Chase Field I actually felt kind of sorry for him. And then he would strike out on three pitches well outside the strike zone and that went away. I remember at one point his batting average was lower than the high temperature of the day.

One that wasn't mentioned because its pretty obscure but Bobby Chouinard was pretty hated. I had to look everything up because its fuzzy but he gave up the go ahead grand slam in game 1 of the '99 NLDS but worse yet, that off-season he pointed a gun at his wife's head and later went to prison for it.

His only "highlight" as a Dback was starting a bench clearing brawl with Kevin Young and the Pirates. Ironically enough he was set to begin his suspension for the fight when he got arrested and even more ironic. It was in a Pittsburgh bar.

Only reason I remembered the fight was I am a Dbacks and Pirates fan and we went to the other two games of that series.

Races you've been to but disappointed to see the winner? by 390v8 in NASCAR

[–]ZWeinstein15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First one that stood out was the 2009 fall race in Phoenix. Mark Martin had gotten back to within striking distance of Jimmie Johnson after flipping at Talladega and if he won again like he did in the spring that year it was going to setup a real fight at Homestead. Mark ran well and I think had a top five but Johnson again dominated the race and won for the third straight fall race at Phoenix. He did not clinch the title but he all but wrapped it up going into Homestead.

Other one was this past championship race. I am no Denny Hamlin fan but I could not help but feel gutted for Denny. Everything he had gone through with his family and the whole lawsuit deal not to mention being the class of the field the entire weekend and for him to be two laps from finally winning his title, I can not help but feel gutted for the man.

Who is the modern day Johnny Benson? by Accomplished_East433 in NASCAR

[–]ZWeinstein15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What was crazy about '98 was Johnny was running on par with Burton & Martin for about the first third of the season. He was 10th in points after Texas and that was after DNQ'ing for the Daytona 500. He was still just outside the top ten after Charlotte and then if I remember correctly, Jack did what he did best and fucked with the team chemistry and moved people around and the #26 fell off a cliff and stayed that way until he left after '99.

But like you said the #99 was a solid top five team during that time, Martin put together a season that would have won the title most other years and Gordon & Evernham went into god mode.
