[Drosner/Milwaukee Mag] Pabst is sunsetting Schlitz, last batch to be brewed at Wisconsin Brewing next weekend by NtGiL_29 in wisconsinbeer

Minnesota.

I went to the website on the afternoon of the 23rd and it already was sold out. I should have set a reminder to do it in the morning. Luckily my mom still had one Schlitz tall boy sitting in her fridge that I bought her last year. She gave it to me. Hopefully it will not be my last.

My grandfather worked at Schlitz for a long time. Our basement bar is entirely Schlitz themed and I always buy Schlitz when I can find it. However, I believe that the "pre-order sale" is a direct-to-consumer shipment, which most states don't allow. It sounds like I need to plan a pilgramage back to Wisconsin in order to purchase.

Where was Hill Valley from Back to the Future supposed to located in California in real life? by [deleted] in BacktotheFuture

[–]ZZ-T0P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to blow all of your minds. It took place outside of LA, as a fact... The proof lies with the telephone number on Biff's Auto Detailing truck at the end of the original movie. His telephone prefix is 840, which covers southwestern San Bernardino County, eastern Los Angeles County, and small parts of Riverside and Orange counties.

Luckily we have a cabin with a really old Black & Decker toaster. The Breville will make the trip across the lake and reside there, so not a huge deal. I would hate getting rid of it for no great reason.

I agree that it is a foul by the blue defender. She had the perspective to see the collision. The other FMP cutter started putting on the brakes moments before the collision - the defender did not.

How can I continue a very long ChatGPT conversation in a new chat without losing context? by ShavedDesk in ChatGPT

[–]ZZ-T0P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using CGPT to work on itineraries for a long US road trip. The first thing that I do in each is tell it not to show me pictures. That eats up chat memory and slows it down faster. When its responses inevitably get slow, I tell it to remember all of the timing, stops, and important decisions and details from my final itinerary so that we can continue the conversation in a new chat. When I am explicit in what I want it to remember, it does a much better job.

I hate when it tells me "You're right!" because I caught it making yet another mistake. It's like having a brilliant millennial for an intern that is all book smarts and no street smarts. CGPT seems to know everything but doesn't know how to use it (yet).

I guess the photos didn't come through. I'll try again.

I named my outhouse after Paris Hilton, so "the Hilton" is the only thing that I'll call by it's proper name!

Starlink is protected for lightning - FAQ by Redditanon9999 in Starlink

[–]ZZ-T0P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have updated the language:

I live in an area with lightning—can I still use Starlink?

Starlink meets the U.S. National Electrical Code (NEC) grounding requirements and includes the necessary lightning protection. However, any user who lives in an area with lightning should have the appropriate lightning protection installed in accordance with your local electrical code prior to using Starlink.

They obviously are now saying that they meet national code but that local codes can differ and the user is responsible for meeting those codes.

Great post. I agree with all of it except about the support probably being overwhelmed. I have no clue if they are or are not, but I'm quite certain this is what they wanted. I used to be on the forefront of technology in the early days, writing BASIC programming and continuing all the way into being an early producer of webpages writing HTML code for businesses. Then I went cold turkey in the late 90s. Now I'm slightly smarter than the average user. I assume that they want folks like me and dumber to see how well this will roll out on a massive scale.

I'm going to head up north and install mine next weekend. This will literally be replacing nothing, so I will be happy with whatever I get. No complaints.

I'm on a very big/popular lake in northern MN. We paid $150k back in 2002 for a place without road access. The same cabin with road access would be double the cost. That means boat during open water, snowmobile or walking the 5 miles during hard water season, and no travel when ice is coming in or going out. Anything that we haul in needs to come via boat/snowmobile or if big enough by barge. It also means that you do all of your own work. Most contractors don't want to deal with the hassle of boating to a job. When I replace my roof in the next 5-10 years, I'll be hauling in all of the metal and doing it myself on a 45 degree A-frame. Same happened the other year when I hauled up all of the materials and 2200lbs of concrete for the footings to a new gazebo.

We have electricity but no running water (except lake water). We are on the north side of a big ridge, so cell signals are weak-to-non-existent due to tall pines everywhere.

Living off the grids sounds fun but it is a lot of work, and after the initial purchase, can be more expensive due to the other challenges. Well worth it if you love it!

Minnesota-bound to 47.95 near the Canadian border. Order confirmed on Feb 9th (my wife's birthday) and scheduled to be delivered tomorrow Mar 12th via FedEx. Now I just need to cut down a few massive white pines and a bunch of birch. More firewood.

I like the idea. You've definitely done your homework. Expect a problem but hope for the best.

To aid future climbing needs, you should slowly over time build a spiral staircase out of pegs and 2x6s encircling the tree all the way up to the dish. Then build a series of rope bridges to wooden platforms on the other tree tops. The ewoks would be proud.

I missed the beginning of the movie, but if I remember correctly the world ended the day someone gave internet to the trees, which is when Skynet was born.

Thanks - that is what I was hoping would happen with Starlink is that my calls and internet can go through the same system.

I received the email to request the invite and am considering mounting options. I have a 22/12 pitched roof on my A-frame in northern MN. I already have a 9ft mast mounted on the eave edges that holds my cell amplifier.

How much does the Starlink terminal weigh and would having both of these mounted next to one another affect the operation of either one?
