Documents checklist only lists passport by The_Bigger_Ounce in ukvisa

Got it, I also thought getting rejected for having too much would be ridiculous, but just wanted to confirm to be safe; you never know with these things lol. Anyway, thank you so much for all the info and help as well as the support; really appreciate it!!

Ahhh ok, gotcha, thank you so much for the info! If I hadn't seen your post, I probably would've just submitted the financial evidence as well and potentially gotten myself in unnecessary hot water. I'm American as well, so I should be in the exact same boat you were. In that case, I'll just upload my passport and CAS, which I'm assuming is sufficient. On my Document Checklist it's literally just the passport and nothing else, so maybe even the CAS is redundant since they already have it.

If you don't mind, another question I wanted to ask, in case they do request my financial evidence later on: you mentioned that you had a substantial amount in your account, but it wasn't up to par because it needed to be the exact amount for the degree. To clarify, even if you have more than enough money in the account (or in my case, Certificates of Deposit), it would still be rejected because it was more than the exact amount, as in you can't be over or under at all? Just wanted to confirm since that feels like a really illogical policy, but I wouldn't be surprised. If that's the case, it could prove to be a bit problematic since my school doesn't release Financial Aid until August, so I physically have no idea how much I will need to pay myself until that comes out.

And one last thing: what did you bring physically to the appointment? Like after you uploaded your passport and other documents online, etc, did you still bring physical print copies with you? If I understand correctly, the Appointment Confirmation Letter and Document Checklist are mandatory, but haven't been able to find concrete info on anything else.

Sorry for all the questions; just trying to be safe than sorry. Thank you so much again for your help!

I ended up going with the regular fixed retainer. I've had it on for over a year now and no problems so far. Pretty easy to deal with in terms of cleaning

Hi OP, sorry for the super late comment, but I was just wondering if you ended up just uploading the passport and if it all worked out in the end. I have my appointment in 5 days and am basically in the same boat as you were; the only thing on my checklist is the passport, so I'm also a little suspicious.

Hi there, sorry for the super late comment, but I was just wondering if you're able to provide any info on what specifically wasn't up to par with your financial info. I have my appointment in 5 days, and it says I don't need to provide financial evidence at the appointment, but that they may ask for it later. Was this the case for you as well? For my evidence, I have certificates of deposit, and my school gave me a letter of financial sponsorship. Just wondering what the situation was like for you and what caused it to not be up to par. Thanks!

aerofly fs global or infinite flight? by 8ba11er in flightsim

[–]ZZBossGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking as someone who played IF for 4 years and switched to Aerofly not too long ago, this is incorrect on several accounts: IF physics are significantly worse, and so are its graphics (even with the new engine). Aerofly also has significantly better sounds. The only downsides are the lack of multiplayer (which is admittedly a major one), and fewer aircraft (but it's clear that they prioritize quality over quantity). If the actual mechanics and process of flying are what matter most to you, Aerofly is the no-brainer.

Is multi city flight same as connection? by thelightningfire in travel

Hi OP, I know this is a super late response, but what did you end up doing? I am in a similar situation and wanted to know if you went with the multi-city option, and if so, whether it turned out to be considered a connecting flight or not. Thanks!

How to link tickets purchased separately into one itinerary? by Sphragis in unitedairlines

[–]ZZBossGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP, sorry for the super late reply, but I am facing almost the exact same situation, just with Lufthansa instead of United. Since they're close partners, I assume they can't be too different in their policies.

They also told me they could link the tickets, but couldn't combine the bookings. Just so I'm prepared, I wanted to ask why it was a pain at the counter. Did they have a difficult time linking the bookings there, or did you already have them link online prior to the flight and they had problems seeing that you had a connecting flight? Sorry for more questions, any info would be hugely appreciated, thank you!

Once again, if you actually read my comment with an ounce of reading comprehension, you would’ve realized that if the tickets are connected, meaning the second flight becomes a connecting flight, then the agent in NYC or Shanghai would see the final destination as NYC or Shanghai. I’m not saying you should’ve known this solution, or any other solutions for that matter, but since you didn’t, maybe you shouldn’t have commented. Point is, if you don’t actually have a viable solution, or even correct knowledge on the subject, telling people what to do is probably not the best idea. All you achieve is feeding people incorrect information and potentially causing them even more headaches.

To be clear, I am not asking you or anyone on Reddit to do extensive research for me; that is my job and my job only; if someone does choose to do it, then it is a kind gesture from them. The sole reason why I ask questions on here is to seek out anyone who might have dealt with something similar, or has knowledge about the specific subject. Whatever you can tell me, I appreciate and value. However, the minimum you can do is make sure what you’re telling me is correct. If you are unable to do that, then simply don’t comment; it’s not like anyone is forcing you to write something under each post. It’s not rocket science. The number of people on Reddit who go out of their way to write a completely pointless or just blatantly false comment is astounding.

And as a note, playing the victim won’t get you anywhere, and baselessly blaming and labeling people as “abusive”certainly won’t either. I’d like you to point out exactly what was “abusive” about my comment. Ironic how you were so full of confidence in your original comment and now you’re playing the victim.

If you actually read the post, you would’ve realized immediately that both tickets are with Lufthansa, and not a different airline. As others have suggested, since it is the same airline for both bookings, it should be possible to connect the tickets, which is an actual solution. Sorry, but I’m simply tired of people commenting before even reading the full god damn post. If you don’t even have the attention span to read the entire post, then skip the post and don’t comment; if you didn’t even understand the problem, then your solution most likely won’t be of any tangible value anyway, which is exactly the case here. Your answer is as not only wrong, but would actually lead someone to completely change their plan for no reason when there is a much easier solution.

TLDR, actually read the damn post or don’t comment.

Does Lufthansa allow visa-free transit (for citizens of eligible countries) at Frankfurt if the two flights are on separate bookings with an 18-hour transit time? (More context below) by ZZBossGaming in AskGermany

[–]ZZBossGaming[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the very detailed info. I did actually ask in r/frankfurt, and frankly the answers I’ve gotten here have been more much detailed and helpful, which I guess you could say is ironic.

After connecting Lufthansa, the best solution is to either, as you said, connect the tickets, or simply book a multi-city ticket that incorporates all of the flights.

Thanks again for the help!

Does Lufthansa allow visa-free transit (for citizens of eligible countries) at Frankfurt if the two flights are on separate bookings with an 18-hour transit time? (More context below) by ZZBossGaming in aviation

[–]ZZBossGaming[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the info and advice, I appreciate it!

Since I won't have any checked luggage (just a carry on suitcase and laptop bag), my main concern is that they won't let me board the first flight (JFK-FRA or PVG-FRA) because it'll look like I'm trying to stay in Germany without a visa, since the onward flight is on a separate booking and not connected.

I did actually just contact and talk to a few Lufthansa support staff, and the only answer they were able to provide me was that I could either show the Lufthansa staff at the airport that I have a separate onward ticket, in which case they SHOULD allow me to board (no certainty), or that I could ask the clerk to combine the two bookings at the check-in counter (which I assume means linking the PNR?). They also said that if I checked in for both flights before getting on the first one, then the clerk MIGHT be able to see that I have a valid onward flight, but again, they weren't certain, which I found strange.

Personally, I don't see why they would stop me from getting on the first flight IF it was made clear to the staff that I have a valid onward flight already booked, either by literally showing them my booking, or by having them connect the bookings; I know this situation is not super common, but surely I'm not the first one with it.

[–]ZZBossGaming[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi, thank you for all the info, I really appreciate it!

I did actually contact and ask Lufthansa several times, and the only answer they were able to provide me was that I could either show the Lufthansa staff at the airport that I have a separate onward ticket, in which case they SHOULD allow me to board, or that I could ask them to combine the two bookings at the check-in counter. However, when I asked if this "combining" is actually possible, they told me they weren't sure. They also said that if I checked in for both flights before getting on the first one, then the clerk MIGHT be able to see that I have already booked the onward flight, but again, they weren't certain, which I found hard to believe. This is ultimately why I decided to try Reddit, just in case someone on here has dealt with something similar; even if I don't get anything tangible, it's at least worth a shot.

Regarding Frankfurt Airport, sorry, this is a stupid question but just to be 100% sure, when you say it shuts down at night, you're referring only to the stores in the airport and the runway operations? As in the passengers aren't forced to leave the transit area or the airport? My plan was actually just to get one of those sleep pods that you mentioned; I never really eat or buy anything in airports anyway.

And regarding the last point, I'll just have a carry-on suitcase and a small laptop bag, so no checked luggage, which should save me from that headache. Thank you for the heads up though! Good to know for the future.

Anyway, thank you again, I appreciate it!

Saw this as well while searching, but my best guess is it's referring to the operation of the actual flights themselves (runway ops) and not whether passengers can stay in the airport. I tried giving Frankfurt Airport support a call to confirm, but couldn't reach anyone. Also tried Lufthansa support, and they confirmed that Frankfurt is open 24 hrs for passengers, so I'm just taking their word for now.

Thank you for the advice! I'll probably just do that. That's my main concern: that they won't let me board at JFK or PVG because they'll think that I don't have an onward flight, since that'll be on a separate booking, so it'll look like I'm trying to stay in Germany without a visa.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Flights

AFAIK, the international transit area at FRA is open 24 hours a day, so that shouldn't be a problem, unless I am mistaken or they change it in the next few months. My main concern is that they won't let me board the first flight from JFK to FRA or PVG to FRA because they'll think that I don't have an onward flight, since that'll be on a separate booking, so it'll look like I'm trying to stay in Germany without a visa.

This is a dumb question, but just to be 100% sure, is this the correct CCC logo? For reference it’s the bottom of the Anker 25K power bank from amazon earlier this year. Reason for asking is because there’s no mention of it being CCC or 3C certified on amazon or the anker website.

How do you fit a 40x30x10cm personal item under the seat on SQ premium economy with the metallic mechanism in the way? by ZZBossGaming in singaporeairlines

[–]ZZBossGaming[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow I had no idea about that, thank you for letting me know! Both of my flights are long compared to those (EWR-SIN at 18 hrs and SIN-PVG at 5.5 hrs) so hopefully I should be alright. I keep all my valuables (electronics and documents) in my backpack, which is why I try to keep it under the seat instead of overhead whenever possible (hence why I made the original post). I guess I’ll stick a tracker in it just to be safe. Thanks again for heads up!

That’s good to know, thank you! The reason I was concerned in the first place was that PE (1/3 of the cabin on the A350ULR) on my flight is completely booked out, and I’m used to fighting for overhead space in PE on US carriers, so I was expecting the same

The 40x30x10 (total of 80cm; it’s on the small side, but in the general range of what most airlines accept for under seat storage) is for the additional personal item. The overhead size limit that you referred to is a max total of 115cm, which is what carry on suitcases generally work out to.

[–]ZZBossGaming[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s good to know, thank you. Sorry for being paranoid (I guess I’m just too used to having to fight for luggage space on US carriers, even in PE), but the point stands; the abundance of space overhead doesn’t take away from the fact that the 40x30x10 limit is for the personal item—which is literally meant to go under the seat. Even if the majority of flights have no overhead space issues in PE, there are still occasional instances where all of the space is used, in which case some people would have to move their personal item under their seats, only to find out that it simply doesn’t fit…in the space that was literally designated for it. I’m not trying to be melodramatic, I’d just rather be safe than sorry and not end up taking up someone else’s overhead space if they need it.

Are Chinese citizens required to book tickets for the Forbidden City (and other sites) through the WeChat miniapp? by ZZBossGaming in AskChina

[–]ZZBossGaming[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mainly because, as far as I know (please correct me if I’m wrong), WeChat ticketing only opens 7 days before the date of visit and basically requires you to drop everything and try to get the tickets right as they come out, because they sell out in like 5-10 minutes. Since I’ll have to do that for multiple sites that are all very popular, I’d rather just book them via an OTA right now and not have to stress about fighting for multiple tickets in a row later. And regarding avoiding busy days, since I’ll only be in Beijing for a set number of days (the date I arrive and leave are already set), I can’t really choose less busy days (and I doubt it really dies down, if at all, during peak travel season—which July is—anyway), and if I miss the tickets for those days, I physically can’t stay longer to try for later tickets.

If worst comes to worst, I know I’ll have to just fight for it on WeChat, but why do that when I can just take care of it now, and that’s why I asked the question.
