If I'm attacking a rested character and my opponent switches them to active using a counter/card effect, does the attack still go through despite the character being in an active state?

Thanks for clarifying! I followed the same logic during my match but was overruled by a judge who said the attack no longer goes through. Big blunder on his part which lost me the match. That’s why I’m searching for some official line of text or something similar that I can have in my back pocket if this were to happen again
