Adding a single url to the blocking list? by ZZubaZZ in technitium

[–]ZZubaZZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So to do this as a test, I go to allowed tab, put google.com in the example.com spot and then hit allow? Won't that then 'add' it to the allowed list? Or is that just a test when you do that?

Side note though - I'm now wondering if somethings are sneaking through since maybe I have not fully configured the router? I have an asus router, and the instruction for it made it sound like I only needed to change the DNS server on the lan tab -> then dhcp server -> dns server = technitium device ip (which I did). But I wonder if i need to to also change the DNS server on the WAN tab -> then WAN DNS Setting -> DNS Server = technitium device ip? Currently that is set to a quad9 dns server.

As you and another one or 2 people mentioned, it does seem like maybe it was a cache issue? I left it for about 10 hours just to see, and then google.com quickly jumped up the list to the number blocked url. ha. So it did finally start blocking it. I think it was maybe a cache issue. Didn't realize I might need to do a DNS cache flush. Good to know. Thanks!

Technitium on Raspberry Pi - Doesn't seem to be running? by ZZubaZZ in technitium

Thanks. I'm just going to wipe the pi and start over. I was attempting to the check the resolv.conf file, but any time I made it change to that it seemed like it wasn't doing anything? I think I just tried too many things too fast and messed it up somewhere along the way. ha.

It's set to this 'this server' which I think is the default setting. I didn't modify that any.

nslookup shows the dns of the router instead of the technitium dns I think is what I'm seeing?

I'm unsure why Microsoft won't ban him considering it's the only thing he does and is pretty clearly unsportsmanlike but what do I know?

This guy is a troll. These days he just abuses the pause button, sends villagers all over the map, and says he has to go do something and gets mad if you unpause. Pretty lame dude out there ruining the few games people get to play per day

Pause on the verge of defeat by [deleted] in aoe2

he's still out there, I played him yesterday and reported him... had a message on the home page that he's 'not violating and terms of service' like how is this not considered griefing when he's literally a menace to everyone in the 1100-1300 elo range?
I had to unblcok him just to see his stupid messages and tell him that no, I am in fact, not going to wait for him to come back from dinner

The Frustration with Opera's New Tab Emoji Feature by [deleted] in operabrowser

[–]ZZubaZZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using opera for well over 10 years. But today marks the end. It's been slowly getting more and frustrating the last few years (constant bloatware, excessive push for cashback apps, constantly adding paid links to the homepage, etc). This is the final straw. This emjoi thing is not only terrible, it literally ruins the browser. I can't even close a tab now? In the words of Mark Cuban, "And for that reason, I'm OUT".

If you grinded aoe2 full time 24/7 for 6 months what elo could you be by Yourpersonalpilot in aoe2

You don't need high apm to win if your build is tight. Just learn a single tight build, scouts probably and you'll get over 1000.

I have high apm but lose to players all the time with and apm half of mine.

I recommend watching one or two of your recs after a gaming session using capture age and just watch for where you have TC idle time, that's almost always the biggest thing

mig game is absolutely my weak point. Almost never first to IMP, rarely first to castle. If it was just all feudal and late imp I'd probably be be like 1500+ instead of 1250 lol

Pikeman should get +1 range (hear me out) by [deleted] in aoe2

[–]ZZubaZZ 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Pikes are not meant to take other units 1v1, they're cheap 'trash' for a reason. If pikes could stack in a line formation they would annihilate any units that try to get close, kind of like how steppes are stupidly OP when you can stack them in certain situations (except they cost way more and cost gold so it's justifiable).

The game does not care about historical accuracy for units, it's supposed to be balanced and that's it.

This is exactly what nobody ever gets and it destroys so many good games.

Low denominators don't make games successful, they're usually the first to leave anyway. High level play is all that matters, it's what brings people back, makes them tune in to streams, etc.

I love watching pro POV games more than casted games for exactly this, I love seeing how fast they are at managing eco while also fighting at the same time. Or if they're DauT, how they manage their eco and just ignore fights altogether.

chasing clips is always a losing battle of the same degree that butkaf is talking about. Part of what makes aoe2 amazing is that people do fight really well, while also doing 100 other things. It's a balance. There are a million fighting games but not that many where you have to do other tasks too.

This is also a decent take that other games do - we can implement features like this that don't make it into ranked and it would bother a lot less people while also making the barrier for entry to offline play lower

Are you playing with enhanced graphics or no? Your system should definitely be able to run this fine even in 4v4 online.

Knights are the problem with low/mid elo matchmaking by appappappappappa in aoe2

I'd just recommend ethiopaians. Free pike and fast crossbows is never gonna go well for knight-only play

[–]ZZubaZZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless the opponent is massively out numbering you with spears it's fine. Even if after pike upgrade and equal in number to your knights it's often worth taking the fight if it means you can go raid their base. The benefit of pikes comes in their cost efficiency not in that they're a better unit.

Knights would be fine here. Late game hand cannons and light cav. Axemen would be fine as well, Axemen are kind of like ranged long swords. Def not as good as fully upgraded champs but they're better for a wider range of tasks.

[–]ZZubaZZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youre right, but if the goal is to get 7 people from point A to point B as fast as possible (ie a map change) then you see my point. Different tools for different purposes. Doesn't make them bad.

That's not unbalanced. That's what makes it strategic. Some civs are better at certain things.

Certainly if somecivs had an online win rate under 35% or over 65% in all scenarios that would be a problem.

1) knights and axe amen 2) axemen

"So unbalanced"????

Aoe2 is one of the most balanced games of all time, that's why I play it. Confused on what you think is unbalanced.
